I'm sorry, but recent events have made me chary of posting or of replying to posts.
I accept that others are entitled to their political views. I (just about) accept that some of them appear to view the "comment" function as intended to allow agreement with those views, but not overt opposition.
I have my own views, which I do not wish to enter into on LJ. Accordingly, as seems to becoming common in my life, I have applied a Self-Denying Ordinance :: I will not post in circumstances where doing so will, or even might, lead to a flaming response, and I won't comment, even when I consider that one of my best friends is being led astray by his own meritorious qualities into espousing the sorts of tosh which, in a more objective frame of mind, he would have rejected.
So, I'm going to stay quiet for now. Sorry, and all that, but it's for my own good, since a flame-war is that last thing into which I wish to be getting myself.
PS -- There's alsdo the slight matter of whether or not Certain People (or Agencies) are yet reading all electronic communications, in which case speaking one's mind becomes the equivalent of painting a thirty-foot mural on your front wall.
