The snow and ice are finally starting to melt away, but I think I'm not going to drive on it for one more day at least. I ended up staying in with the guys for four days, and luckily I only missed three shifts over it. (Hooray for being already off for two days in a row during the worst of it.)

Anyway, I braved the drive to midtown yesterday, which was a mistake. I ended up crawling down Ponce (which I thought would be clear by day 4) at 5 miles per hour behind a long line of cars that had condensed to one lane that wasn't really a lane -- it was more like where the ice wasn't. Just as I thought I was going to be in the clear, I came to a road block. Cops had parked sideways in the street and were pointing us down a residential road. Trusting the cars in front of me, I followed them through some sidestreets and popped out in Little 5 Points. Ended up being 15 minutes late, but I called at least. On the way back home on my break, I decided to take a different way home, which was even icier. I didn't crash, but I did drift into the other lane a few times, and I went through a yellow light that I meant to stop for, but couldn't. There's something deeply chilling about your brakes not working.

So I hopped on the train to get back to work. I don't like taking Marta alone, even more so at night, but there was no way in hell I was going to try to drive on the ice in the dark again. Anyway, I have another shift tonight, and I'll definitely be on Marta again...

Last night we had Adam, Kat, Lizzie, Amelia, Riley, and Grace over and we played Loaded Questions. Which was funny, no matter how many times someone answered the questions with "micropeen" or "Lizzie's mom".
