While her body did age into that of a shriveled old woman at the end of each day, I got close enough to her to note that her heart beat never completely stopped. She went into something of a coma, before coming back to as her normal, young self.

...For a while, I kept it as a hypothesis.
I'm not convinced they're behind it, though. The population of mushi on the island is very weak; a mushi powerful enough to eat so many memories like that would starve here.
