It's plenty exciting...

*suddenly, remembers what Haruhi told him long before; "What about the kids in your class? Aren't you supposed to be a role model for them? What kind of lesson are you teaching them by doing stuff like that?" --he closes his mouth and is silent for a moment*

...

You can take my word for it.

Maybe you'd prefer a story about my journeys before I came here to the island? I once met a man who was chasing after a rainbow...

...It's possible if it's this kind of rainbow. The man, Koro, first heard about it from his father, and was the only one who believed his father's ravings of a mystical rainbow that could be approached and touched. His father bedridden, Koro went out to search for the rainbow, and with my help, found it. I had heard about it before, but this was my first time seeing the Kouda up close.

He'd been caring for his father for years, unable to continue the family business of bridge-building because of an injured tendon in his wrist. I believe he felt trapped by uselessness, and he wanted to find the rainbow to prove to his father that someone believed in him.

He needed some kind of goal in his life.
