I wasn't going to take that hike, and it might've made the change back easier if I hadn't, but... I kept remembering what a good friend said to me. In the end, I am glad I went. It isn't so bad being in the darkness, remembering the light. Thanks for humoring me, Kyouya.
I am also glad...that I met and befriended Syaoran. He was a kind human being, and helped me keep my feet on the ground. But you really had bad timing, kid. You missed out on my promotion. Who else do I owe it to but you?
Seriously though, I think I'll need some help if I'm going to be heading the Science Department at school. I've improved my organizational habits thanks to Syaoran, but I don't think that's going to be enough. Haruhi, how busy are you these days? What if I hired you as an assistant? I can't believe that kid helped me out all those times before for free.

Karibusa Tanyuu. Tanyuu was the 4th generation of recorders in her family; the charcoal-colored birthmark on her right leg appointed her as such. Because of it, she was doomed to live a life of near-solitude, unable to travel anywhere, spending her entire life sealing away the mushi inside that charcoal-colored leg. I had heard of her from other Mushishi, and that if I came and gave her some of my stories, I would gain admittance into the Karibusa library; a wealth of information on all kinds of mushi form throughout the ages.
It turns out that I didn't have much of what she was looking for in terms of stories; she needed tales of mushi killings for the sealing to work. Only a fraction of mine fit the bill. But she told me she'd convince Tama to let me into the library anyway, and asked me to come back often and tell her about my travels. She wanted to hear more stories about mushi and humans living together in harmony. I told her I'd be happy to.
While she seals away a mushi, she celebrates and appreciates them. There lives one such girl.

She said that if she was ever able to walk again, she wanted to travel with me and see the mushi I'd spoken of. I told her it'd be fine with me, as long as I didn't get eaten by a mushi before that happened. Apparently that wasn't enough of an excuse to her. =_= Asking the impossible...
