As someone who loves dance (but is rather terrible at any sort of coordination; I suspect this has more to do with how short and arthritic I am than anything else), this entire storybit was a wonderful read. Not to mention how wonderful your Harry/Draco interaction always is. Those two are wonderful creatures.
I LOVED this story, although I am a rotten dancer myself. Graceful and insouciant tango dancer Draco is going to be one of my favorites. The descriptions were all lovely and sensuous even before I saw the videos. Thanks for the video links, they were very helpful. ( I liked the queer one better.)
Will have to stay tuned for the sequel - though it's hard to see how a sex scene could get sexier than the dance scenes!
Clearly you haven't read Conscience, wherein I have 12,000 words worth of teenage Harry & Draco doing it on a grand piano (horny little buggers couldn't be bothered to take it to the bedroom; the parlor was good enough).
This tango series can and will get sexier. I think writtenmatrix would come down from Canada to murder me in my sleep if it didn't.
Thanks so much for reading. This fic was very dear to me and it's great to hear from people who've enjoyed it.
No, I haven't read Conscience, but I'll have to seek out the piano scene. I first read the tango fic on silver snitch but the comment thing wasn't working - it kept telling me I hadn't typed the code right, when I had - so you may have missed a few comments there. I saw another fic there - I guess it was Conscience - and it had a warning called "Slowly click away..." and I have no idea what that means - photograph at leisure? Exit slowly in your tap shoes? I don't update often?
I liked that Harry was finally gallant enough to rescue drunken Draco on the dance floor though it took him long enough - a little slow on the uptake. Like when he said "My God, we're flirting" and I thought "Duh, Harry, you've been flirting for a long time here", but maybe not, maybe all that sexy dancing is par for the corse in tango.
Well, in the interests of international harmony I guess you'd better write the sexier sequel.
You crack me up! "Slowly Click Away..." because Conscience is a beast. 275,000 words and counting, about 60% completed. I am a verbose creature, to be sure. 18k is considered a weekend drabble.
And just because Harry has matured doesn't mean he's lost his clueless cannon nature. I'd like to think that--even for a married guy who cheats--he's still a bit naive when it comes to sexual chemistry and romance. He's fresh, innocent and classic Harry; a little slow on the uptake. We adore him for his bumbling ways. He wouldn't be Harry if he had all the answers. <3
That was gorgeous! I found this via writtenmatrix and I'm so glad I did! The entire tango sequence was so incredibly sensual. Buenos Aires as a backdrop is fabulous. Their interaction is perfect and I love your descriptions of Draco. I'm so happy to see you're writing a Part II!
When I pitched this to WM, it was as three-parter: tango, bumb freaky uglies, and happily ever after. She will tromp down from Canada and murder me in my bed if I don't give poor Harry some closure. That and my sex scenes slay her--like I need a reason to write filth....
I am overjoyed each time someone responds to this drabble. It's such an unusual niche and very dear to my heart. Glad you liked it.
My muse and cheerleader, the ever-delightful writtenmatrix, has been hounding me for more Conscience and Glas (my original novel) as of late. Eventually, the sex scene for this tango series will come into being--there are already a tedious amount of notes on the subject. I just need a few days off and a very large bottle of Lambrusco to get the job done.
Thanks for reading. This is such an unusual side-project, I'm always a little amazed when people like it.
Alas, no. I live so far from anything it's ridiculous. And the only basic beginner class I can find in my area begins right before I'm scheduled to take a two-week trip. :( It's probably a silly idea anyway. I seriously doubt they'd go along with me wanting to lead! And I'm probably one of those people who should stick to a very basic waltz, while watching my feet and counting under my breath. LOL!
But you do such a fabulous job of making the reader feel as though they're dancing right along with Harry and Draco - it made me feel as though I absolutely could move like that, with that much confidence and sensuality. *sigh* I'll be coming back to this one again and again, just to feel that. So thank you. :)
I was jonesing for some Conscience, and decided to read this, lol. It was wonderful! I know nothing of dance, not to mention the tango, but it all sounded so sensual. I had to keep reminding myself that I wouldn't be treated with one of your epic, Pulitzer-prize winning sex scenes at the end, (wink) but it sounds like there will be one at some point? Brilliant. I love your writing so very much! I can't wait to read more from you. I read mention of an original work, Glas. Is this published somewhere? I absolutely adore your writing style!
There will be a sequel to this eventually, yes. It's designed as a three-part piece. At some point in time, I'll get to converting my notes into actual prose fiction.
As for Glas, that's a work in progress. Conscience is a testing ground for me, a way to practice and hone what I intend for Glas. I'm still under contract with my old publisher, so it'll be a while yet before I can approach another publishing house with this piece--meaning that I have time to plug away, practice and really do what I want with it. The majority of my previous work is nothing I'm terribly proud of. Glas is the first major step in the right direction. Conscience trails far behind in comparison.
