Okay, I finally went through my mothers old sewing box (the one I brought back after my brothers funeral three years ago). Yeah, hated to relive the old memories. Anyway, she had over 30 zippers (some still in the original packing (tossed these out), over 70 spools of sewing thread (plastic, wooden & styrofoam spools) in assorted pastle colors (plus a couple black and white thread), but NOT red or navy blue, and these are what I need at the moment. She also had a few thimbles (one is sterling silver -- a keeper), two assorted needle packets (glovers, carpet, upholstry, tent etc.etc.). One of these needle packets was with the original "Thank you" notice from a club she belonged to back in the late 50's. Thinking about it now, I am sure if I would have brought back ALL her boxes of sewing supplies, that I would have found red and navy blue thread. But, with 120 degree heat, no shade or AC, and not to mention we did not rent a UHaul, I will just have to be happy looking through when I did manage to bring back. I guess this calls for another trip to JoAnn's, unless I really, really want to stay home and sew by hand (I do have DMC in the colors I need).
