Bwah, I've been so busy lately! I got a random, surprise email a few weeks ago, asking me if I'd like to do an art show in Kyoto city! (So of course I said yes.) It will be part of Japan's National Culture Festival (the biggest cultural festival here). This year it's being held in Kyoto, so the prefecture has been advertising it for the past 2 years.

It's really funny because when I first came to Japan, I was walking around Kyoto city, and I came across this gorgeous art gallery. At the time I thought, "Wow, it would be so cool to have an art show here . . . ah well, that'll never happen . . ." And it turns out, the art show that I'm having is actually going to be in that exact gallery!

The gallery is called Trans Genre. Here's a link: http://www.shin-puh-kan.com/rental/transgenre/index.html

Right outside of the gallery there's a court yard and a stage where Kyoto's sister cities (Oklahoma, Leningrad, Edinburgh, Yogyakarta in Indonesia and Shaanxi in China) will be performing. There will be dancing, music, food, fashion, etc. I'm really looking forward to it!

On top of that, a few days ago I got an email telling me that the Commissioner from the Agency for Cultural Affairs (their top guy in charge) is coming to the festival, and he wants to talk with me and the 2 other people who are doing the art show with me. How random is that?

If any of you guys happen to be in Japan, and in Kyoto next week, come check it out! Here's the info:
