When I got home from work yesterday, and began my usual scan of things I can't read at work and another look at LJ, I learned that Stacey Burger (vampire_miyu) had passed.
I met Stacey at least 7 years ago through some anime friends and acquaintances. She was part of a local cosplaying group for a while. And she was one of the people who helped get
Tekkoshocon off the ground. Stacey worked Registration for the first two years and assisted with a few other departments over time if memory serves.
Unfortunately, Stacey was diagnosed with Leukemia. At Tekkoshocon VI in 2008 we raised money for the The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in her honor. Even during her struggle she cosplayed and made the best of things.
Azumanga Daioh cosplay at Ohayocon 2003
Magic Knights Rayearth at Katstucon 2003 (aka Katsnowcon)
The BIG check from 2008
Stacey and Dumpling at Tekko 2009
While I was never really close to Stacey I grieve her loss and in this process I remember others I have lost.
Dan Castore.
My mother. My grandmother Hazel. But what helps pull me out of the seas of sadness is those still with me. My family and those close to me. I love you.
