Saturday Baron Byron and Baroness Ariella of the Debatable Lands graciously opened their home to the populous. I was very pleased to bring
Neil to his first SCA event. I couldn't have hoped for a better event for this a little bit of everything.
Any excuse to go to the castle is a good one but this time there was an added bonus that fighters would get the chance to storm the castle! Archers were poised on the roof and some were firing from the windows at the fighters charging down the hill. It was most excellent to observe. Some videos will be posted to youtube soon. While the
"BURN THE ENGLISH" guys were very entertaining, my favorite fighter to storm the castle marched bravely forward after grandly discarding his shield. Other fights during the day were one on one fights, a spear bear pit on the drawbridge and live target shooting for the archers from the roof.
Inside the castle were friends, food and drink. My initial impression of the sideboard menu didn't seem like much, but boy did I completely stuff myself over the day. Best thing offered was chicken and apple sausage. SO GOOD! Additionally got some oddly tasty pumpkin chocolate chip cookies from the bake sale. While I did not sample any of Deryk's brews I did catch a whiff or two of what Cadell and Neil were sampling. (I hope I got that name right)
Many thanks to
valancy17 for the most excellent
cloak that kept me warm and comfortable all day. I really can't thank you enough for this addition to my garb.
Full set of Castle Siege photos are
HERE. Titles and descriptions to come soon. Neil posted a few photos too, though since they aren't in a set I'll link to
the last in the photostream and
me.
My favorite picture of the day is
this one. Only visible to friends and family on my flickr contact list though. If you wish to see it, add me as a contact on flickr.
