Title: Normalcy
Author: Soraki
Rating: PG because I still refuse to have a G rated story. XD
Summary: Yami has a warped sense of what’s normal. Light Seto/Yami slash.
Notes: Yami has his own body. I don’t know why or how, but he does.
Warnings: This randomly came to me on a train ride to LA. I don’t know if this means I’m back, either in YGO or the fanfiction world in general, but let’s hope for the best, eh? I’m a bit rusty, but I hope you guys like it anyhow. Cute little ficlet. Comment with love~!
Life was peaceful in Domino City. And to one modern-day ancient Egyptian pharaoh, that felt weird.
Yami stood in Kaiba’s office at the Kaiba Corp. building, squinting out at the city through the windows that lined the walls. It was a perfect summer day, slightly warm with a gentle breeze and the radiant sun high in the clear blue sky. The air was clean and crisp and there were little children in the park, frolicking around in the sandboxes, enjoying their summer break. Couples dotted the sidewalks, all smiles as they strolled hand-in-hand to the local coffee shops. The city was calm.
Weird.
Sure Jou still got into fights with everyone and Bakura and Malik still ran around terrorizing little children, but it was still too calm. Where was the homicidal maniac out for revenge? The life-threatening journey they would have to soon disembark upon? Even a natural disaster would be appreciated at this point!
Yami turned away from the windows and focused on the tall brunet hunched over his laptop. There was yet another thing that didn’t quite fit. Yami was in Kaiba Corp., watching the CEO work. Kaiba. Who had become his friend.
And his lover.
That was probably the weirdest thing of them all. Kaiba had gone from high priest, to biggest adversary, to closest ally, to friend, to lover. The ferocity behind their competitions had changed, the anger between their words exchanged had ebbed away, and it was very different.
But that didn’t feel weird. But it was.
Yami sighed a little in frustration, and Kaiba looked up at the sound. Their eyes locked and Kaiba quirked an eyebrow at his lover. “Is something wrong?”
Yami stared back. So what if he never thought he’d share a meal with Kaiba, let alone a bed? So what if no one was trying to kill him? He was happy being able to let his guard down, especially around his one time rival. There was nothing wrong with that.
Yami closed his eyes and smiled in contentment.
“No. Nothing at all.”
