I don't think 'Marth' wears that butterfly mask for no reason. In one of the videos, it starts out with a glowing blue butterfly flying around... and we have 'Marth' in a butterfly mask.
There are many symbolism with butterflies- in some cultures, they are a symbol of rebirth. The ancient Greek word for butterfly is the same as soul/mind, psyche. In Japan, it's the personification of one's soul.
...I've got a feeling 'Marth' isn't wearing that mask just too look more feminine. I think 'he' wears that mask as symbolism.
