[what started out as a day spent very warily heading out to as many ends of the barrier as possible to get a better look at what's looming in the sky above them all-- despite the weather-- has abruptly ended upon the discovery of a mask that looks exactly like a certain housemate

[Being a ghost? Really not his favorite way of spending time in Luceti. But when he comes across 'Xion' on his way home, he just pauses and gives her a very alarmed look. And he's running faster to get there.]

No! [He's practically throwing himself down because he knows what this mean and it's kind of terrifying.] Xion, what happened?!

[soracles]

I'm not Xion.

[no, of course you are, Sora-- or rather, Xion is him-- it's one of those, at least. either way, he's not the dead one in this encounter, despite the shards of crystals that are his legs, so he lifts his head and stares at Roxas quizzically.]

[perplex_me]

...what's that supposed to mean? [That quizzical look? It's right back at you, bro.]

[soracles]

I'm not! I found this mask-- I meant to bring it back to the house so we could figure out what it was, but then... [and there's that thought of curiosity replaying in his head.]

What happened to you, Roxas?

[perplex_me]

...but then you put it on? [Yeah, he can only think of one person who'd try that.] Smooth move, Sora.

[There's a sigh though.] ...Xion...the real Xion had her own mask yesterday. It was creepy...like death. I think she killed me.

[soracles]

[curiosity killed the cat, et cetera.]

You think she killed you? [Sora waves a hand at Roxas, testing to see if he's ethereal like an actual ghost. sometime in the middle of this experiment, there's a chnk noise as another crystal sprouts right above his kneecap.]

[perplex_me]

Well not really killed! Naoto said the mask might have represented the Grim Reaper...it makes sense. One minute I was at the house, the next Xion grabbed my face, paralyzed me, and I passed out. I woke up on the floor with this mask on and being able to walk through everything. [Yep. He's very much ethereal, though he's busy eying that crystal.] But this? This is just weird.

[soracles]

... No, what you described is pretty weird, too.

Has this happened before?

[perplex_me]

Let's not make this a weird-contest yet, okay?

Which part? There's a lot of "this" going on right now, dude.

Has there been masks of people we know here before?

[perplex_me]

Might be. I haven't heard, I'm still trying to investigate...it's too hard trying to figure out who everyone is or what's going on with their faces hiding.

[soracles]

How are you going to do that though?

[soracles]

The mask has to come off eventually, right? I'll figure something out.

But who knows how long eventually is? I don't think I like those odds.
