[they say that idle hands are the devil's workshop, but after finally stumbling back home and passing out in his room for a good half of the day, Sora's not much into leaving the comfort of his bed and the company of his friends to really put that saying into practice ( Read more... )

[A picture of a great green expanse, flat as far as the eye can see, with a bright blue sky up above shows up. Settled in the middle is a group of small houses made of animal hide, surrounded by little stick-figure people and horses.]

I'm not a great artist, but mine is... something like this.

[he gets the idea, either way-- Sora's never really known what it's like to live anywhere other than an island and maybe the inside of a Gummi Ship for a few nights at a time. it's nice, being able to see others' perspectives.]

What was it like living there?

[Lyn, meanwhile, has been pretty much across her entire continent and at least had to sleep a few days in every climate imaginable from desert to mountains. It makes her appreciate the plains.]

It could be hard at times, especially in the dry seasons where food got scarce and fire could start easily, but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

Home is always home, no matter where it is or how harsh it is, huh? We would sometimes get really bad storms back on the islands.

Exactly.

How did you weather those storms?

We had ways of boarding up the house so that it wouldn't be too damaged by the storms... Really, we just kind of had to hunker down and ride them out.

I suppose there's only so much you can do... like a grassfire on the plains, you can't do much with those except get out of the way.

I can't imagine. Fires sound so much worse than storms.

They certainly weren't easy to deal with. You wouldn't think grass can burn so hotly, until you remember that it's all kindling. It goes up quickly and fiercely.

You didn't have to rebuild too often, right?

No, we got around that by building homes that were easily moved.

You mean sort of like tents?

Yes, very large tents that could serve as homes for a whole family. They wouldn't have been very good shelter in a colder place, but for the plains they worked perfectly.

I kind of wish I could visit. It doesn't sound like any world I've visited before.

You've been to other worlds?

Several, actually. I guess it's not as weird as it could be when we're all here, though.
