Home for Christmas!

Yeah, that subject line pretty much says it all. Classes got pretty rough this semester (okay, one class got pretty rough [and for reasons completely unrelated to understanding the material], one class had a difficult project [group project; with undergraduates; who regularly skipped class and ignored the assignment] but was otherwise fun and useful, and one class that made me sort of fall in love with a field I had dipped tentative toes into in the past and found difficult and less than useful. Given that the one class' stress is now gone, I foresee feeling rather pleased with this semester in a month or two.

For that matter, unless I hear that there is further drama from the sucky class, I'm leaning towards being pretty peppy right now. I learned a lot, knocked part of a doctoral requirement off my list, got a permanent advisor (unofficially, but still), got involved in our school's graduate student government, helped (officially) launch our department's grad student group, had several successful events with said group - basically, Got Stuff Done. Now I'm at home on break, and I still have some stuff that I can do, but it's all forward-looking stuff. Applications to do a year-long language program, for example. Things are going well.

progress, grad school
