I'm still alive! I've even been doing stuff. Like studying. Lots of studying. But I did some reading, too. My backlog's so big I've been avoiding posting here, so let me get it all out of the way in one shot:
7. The Kalahari Typing School for Men, by Alexander McCall Smith
8. Rosemary and Rue, by Seanan McGuire
9. All She Was Worth, by Miyuki Miyabe
10. Sporting Chance, by Elizabeth Moon
11. Blink, by Malcolm Gladwell
12. Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, by Lisa See
13. Naya wo Yaku, by Haruki Murakami (in Japanese)
Of those, I recommend the entire series that seven is in; eight; nine; ten; eleven; and twelve. In other words, most of them. A pretty good lot. The writing could have been better for eight, ten and twelve but there were clear reasons for it (an early work by Moon, McGuire's first book, and the simple necessity of See having to explain a lot about historical China to contemporary Americans) which made them worthwhile for me. All She Was Worth I particularly recommend. It's a mystery that circles around bankruptcy. I won't say any more so as not to spoil it. Happy reading!
