Inheritance
Book Two
A Twin Disaster
The songs of the dead, are the lamentations of the living
[Murtagh left with Ajihad and the Twins to chase the Urgals]
"Eragon missed talking to Murtagh and looked forward to discussing all that had happened, once he returned."
[Murtagh is like a beacon to Eragon T___T]
(...)
"He could barely assimilate the fact that Ajihad was dead and Murtagh was missing. Murtagh. (...) At times Eragon wished Murtagh gone, but now that he had been forcibly removed, the loss left an unexpected void."
The Council of Elders
Anguish gripped Eragon, as he remembered the events of the previous days. tears filled his eyes, spilling over, and he caught one on his hand. (...) 'I found these', she said. Then she reveled one of the twins' purple robes, torn and bloodied, and Murtagh's tunic and both his leather gauntlets.
In the confines of Eragon'd mind he mourned Murtagh. It was a dreadful creeping feeling of loss and horror made worse by the fact that he had grown more familiar with it in the past months.
(...) He knew it was a desperate and futile prospect, but he had to try in order to convince himself that Murtagh was really gone(...).
He whispered "Draumr Kopa'
[Eragon might get on my nerves but he never gives up, and that works for good and bad]
(...)
Eragon picked at his food and pretended to ignore the disturbances. Finally trying to divert his thoughts from Murtagh, he asked. (...)
Drifting
(...) He stared at his hands without seeing them. I wonder if Murtagh's scar ever pained him like mine does
I don't know, said Saphira
A dead silence followed. Then: I'm afraid.
[Thinks of Murtagh when in doubt...*sad*]
The Dashelgr Invocation
Someone was trying to scry him.
[first time someone tries to scry him and Saphira]
On the Crags of Tel'naeir
Oromis nodded gravely. "I ask for nothing less." He looked at Glaedr for a moment, then said, "Stand and remove your tunic. Let me see what you are made of"
[*cough cough*]
(...)
Oromis circled him, stopping with an astonished exclamation as he saw the scar that crossed Eragon's back. "Did Arya or one of the Varden's healers offer to remove this weal? You should not have to carry it."
"Arya did offer, but..." Eragon stopped, unable to articualte his feelings. Finally, he just said, "It's part of me now, just as Murtagh's scar was part of him"
"Murtagh's scar?"
"Murtagh bore a similar mark. It was inflicted when his father Morzan, threw Zar'roc at him when he was only a child"
[Always Murtagh, I think that at the beginning the fact that Murtagh had a scar much like Eragon's ll his life gave the boy strength to accept his own wound as a part of himself]
The Secret Lives of Ants
"Let us wash the sweat from our limbs". Said Oromis when they finished.
Going to the stream by the house they quickly disrobed. Eragon surreptitiously watched the elf, curious as what he looked like without his clothes. No hair grew upon his chest or legs, not even around his groin. His body seemed almost freakish to Eragon, comparedto the men he was used seeing in Carvahall- although it had a certain elegance to it, like that of a wildcat.
[*cough cough*]
Visions Near and Far
[on gods, this just because I like it ^^]
"It seems a cold world without something... more"
"On the contrary" said Oromis, "it's a better world. A place where we are responsible for our own actions, where we can be kind to one another because we want to and because it is the right thing to do instead of being frightened into behaving by the threat of divine punishment. I won't tell you what to believe, Eragon. It is far better to be taught to think critically and then be allowed to make your own decisions than to have someone else's notions thrust upon you."
Witch's Brew
Orik shrugged. "It struck me you might appreciate a spot of company in this grim night. Specially since Arya's otherwise engaged and you don't have Murtagh with you for this battle."
And I wish I did, thought Eragon. Murtagh had been the only human who matched Eragon's skill with a sword before the Agaeti Blodhren. Sparring with him had once been one of Eragon's few pleasures during their time together. I would have enjoyed fighting with you again, old friend.
[sometimes it seems Eragon sighs like a schoolgirl ^^, is cute!!]
Eldest
A red dragon floated above them, glowing and sparkling like a bed of blood-red coals. (...) On his back was fixed a saddle, and in the saddle sat a man garbed in polished armor and armed with a hand-and-a-half sword.
[This is when I knew for sure, it was him... a hand and a half sword...the last chapters are just cruel!!]
(...)
The way the Rider flourished his sword afterward -spinning it in a quick circle by his side- suddenly seemed familiar to Eragon, as did all his preceding swordsmanship. He stared with growing horror at his enemy's hand-and-a-half sword, than back up at the eye slits of this mirrored helm, and shouted, "I know you!"
He threw himself at the Rider, trapping both swords between their bodies, hooked his fingers underneath the helm, and ripped it off. And there in the center of the plateau, on the edge of the Burning Plains of Alagaesia, stood Murtahgh.
[*gasp*]
Inheritance
[This chapter is my favorite! is so... it feels so... T_____________T,
here it is revealed they were scrying each other! T__T Murtagh seems hurt because Eragon did not looked for him, hurt for being abandoned yet again...to a cruel fate
if I start writing parts I'll put up the whole chapter!]
"You betrayed us! I was mourning you, and you betrayed us!"
"I had no choice"
"I had no choice!" snarled Murtagh
[Bacause Galbatrix knows his true name! Eragon is a total jerk!!!! T__T murtagh!!! poor baby!!]
(...)
"You cannot help me, Eragon. No one but Galbatorix can release us from our oaths, and he will never do that... He knows our true names, Eragon... we are his slaves forever"
(...)
Finally Murtagh said, "I was ordered to try and capture you and Saphira". He paused. "I have tried... make sure we don't cross paths again"
[Murtagh... is like he said, Eragon forces other to take care of him... ]
(...)
Murtagh merely shook his head and repeated his words in the ancient language, then put his lips to Eragon's ear and whispered, "You and I, we are the same, Eragon. Mirror images of one another. You can't deny it."
[They are not mirror images anymore... but still they are very much alike.... very much...]
(...)
They have won, but he had lost.
[So, Eragon in left broken in the plateau and we are left with out more to read! T__T I want book three so badly it hurts!!]
T__T I hope you enjoyed this, .... this book makes me sad...
^^ but have a nice weekend!
