Junk shot!

First, some background music. I knew a metal version of Presto from Vivaldi's Summer concerto (one of his "Four Seasons") had to exist. The original is as close to metal as Baroque or pretty much any of the "classical" forms gets. Dance, water, dance!

Still haven't seen Scott Pilgrim v. The World. I want to, but I've been debating whether to catch it in the big multiplex, the dollar theater, or if I should wait for the Netflix. Right now, Netflix is winning. The movie seems right up my alley. I love the concept of blending reality and nerd culture (comic book written sound effects, epic battles with stat screens) and every critic I've read said that it's done very well. I love the soundtrack. This song which I sneaked into the last Made of Fail* sounds like Nobuo Uematsu at his Electronica best (Compare it with "Challenge" the song that made me need to own Final Fantasy X's soundtrack.). I love Aubrey Plaza (seen here owning Sarah Silverman) and they have her playing an above-it-all snarker. What a stretch!

What I can't get over is a sinking feeling I've had since I first heard the plot and thought--maybe said aloud--"Why can't she fight her own damn exes?" Then came this review and while comparing something hated by half the internet to something potentially loved by half of it is blatant hit trolling, it also has an uncomfortable verisimilitude**. Maybe Scott Pilgrim isn't as bad as Twilight, but it has its own set of issues.

Then again, maybe Tasha Robinson from The A.V. Club is right and they should view the love story in Pilgrim as a parody. That helps a little, but probably not enough to save it from a date with the Netflix queue.

Another A.V. Talk podcast of particular note (all are pretty damn informative and funny) is their takedown of Eclipse and The Last Airbender. They go to town.

Two things I enjoy wikipedia lists and srs wikipedia articles about non-srs topics in one great taste. Wiki editors of porn articles have a serious fixation with anal sex. Wonder if there is an overlap with Conservapedia editors?

Really, why do wikipedia articles on celebrities have the worst pictures?

I'm filing suit with the internet police for false advertising. Clever girls.

Finally, old meme, but funny.
