Wednesday #63

I'm taking the day off to await the delivery of our new queen-sized bed. Also, I don't take enough off-days. Outside of having to pay a stupid parking ticket (totally avoidable if I weren't so lazy, but who gives a ticket for parking in a no parking between 3 and 6 at 5 freaking 57?), it's been relaxing.

Tiny Titans #24: Not the best series I read (that honor bounces between the current Detective Comics run and Wonder Woman) and not the funniest (definitely Power Girl), but consistently excellent and good for several laughs. The Bat-cow's exit had me rolling.

Detective Comics #862: Quality, quality, quality. Man, I didn't even care about the Bat-family a few years back. Now I have three Bat-books on my pull list. What happened? Well, keep it up, DC.

I love Montoya's reaction to finding out who Helena's contact is.

Batgirl #7: See Tiny Titans. I only bought this for Babs, but Stephanie has grown on me. I also love the tone of the book, not completely for laughs, but definitely lighter than the rest of the Bat-books.

Batman and Robin #9-10

Booster Gold #30: Future Booster's mullet is epic. Maybe he's hiding out in the 80s.

Power Girl #8: The angry mad scientist badger (as opposed a "moo-ha-ha crazy" mad scientist). Vartox's attempted man-service. The "pregno-ray" and PG's reaction. Working Adam Hughes' formal dress for that poster a few years back into the actual book. I love this book so much.

Supergirl #50: I was a fan of the way Igle handles facial expressions from back when he did Firestorm. He can pack so much emotion into just one look. When his Supergirl declares "I am a super-hero. I don't scare easy." you believe her. He and Gates are rocking this book.

Superman #697: I like the way the story shifted then shifted back in the last few pages. Way to take advantage of the medium. You can do things like that in other media, but I think it works better in graphic novels.

Adventure Comics #8: I was a little worried about the Last Stand of New Krypton/War of the Supermen storylines coming up, but this issue got me back onboard. I love the concept of Brainiac v. Brainiac 5 and their connection.

Is Brainiac 3, the reverse Brainiac who blew up Colossal Boy's Micro Lad's world, still in continuity? I think that's hilarious.

Superman: Last Stand of New Krypton #1: This issue confirmed that the next few months of Super-books are going to rock. Superman entering the Brainiship was amazing.

Action Comics #887

Supergirl #51: Was that a reference to something that happened 49 issues ago? Continuity across writers in my Supergirl book?

Incincible #70

The Brave and the Bold #32: Holy shit. That was awesome. Bonus points for Etigan speaking in rhyme.

Green Lantern Corps #46: Holy shit. That was awesome. Guy commanding the joint corps (not corpses, right? Especially for this event.) with Star Trek references. The Anti-monitor getting fastball specialed with Captain Planet'd Dove after getting hate spewed on by Ragecat. The freaking Black Lantern fridge! Wow.

Sweet Tooth #6-7: Okay, Jepperd is slightly less of a dick. Slightly.
