I managed to time travel this weekend. For whatever reason I decided that Saturday was Sunday, Sunday was Monday, and Monday was Tuesday. My friend Dawn read it, and she was all, "Sarah, you have to read this book because it is hilarious!" This immediately put me on edge, as that was also the way Dawn got me to read the book with multiple instances of suprise!buttsex. (Well, it wasn't a surprise after the first time, but the first time was shocking enough in what had up until that point been a fairly tame historical novel about 19th-century China.) Dawn went on to describe the book as "Jane Austen as a porno," only it seems to me that it's more Jane Austen as Cinemax. I haven't actually read it, because it's always been checked out the library when I go there, but she read me passages out of it, which were, yes, hilarious ( ... )
