Thoughts from the past few days in no particular order

I nearly hit a pair of these yesterday.  I really should have--they drop good gil.

Really though, how does a pair of khaki shorts with a belt still looped in wind up in the middle of a busy road in suburban Chicago?  Perhaps there were amorous yuppies in the high grass adjacent to the road.

I saw a concert outside of Indianapolis in a place called Connor's Prairie.  It is a town of historical re-enactors set cerca 1830.  The concert was not held in the historical area, but in a natural ampitheater consisting of a gently sloped, bowl shaped hill with the stage at the bottom of it and speakers spaced at intervals among the crowd, so there wasn't a bad seat in the house.  The hill overlooked what can only justly be described as a prairie with high grasses extending for miles into the horizon.  I really wish I had brought my camera.

I started Becket today and turned it off after half an hour.  Henry II is my favorite royal and I loved the portrayal of his and Thomas Becket's friendship, but I just wasn't into the movie.  I really wasn't digging where the plot seemed to be going.  Well not so much the plot.  Dumbledore Becket dies.  Everyone knows that.  I didn't like how they were portraying him.  From my, admittedly poor, knowledge of Becket, he was not a loveless lost soul who rediscovered Jesus (or the Church) and became a defender of the Church.  He was always pious.  Becoming Archbishop of Canterbury just gave him a chance to do more with his piety.  I'm fairly sure he didn't turn on Henry because of a woman, nor would he consider it "turning on" him.

Then again, I only just started the movie so maybe I'm completely wrong or maybe they cover my concerns later in the movie.  Maybe I'll try it again in the future.

I hung with so many cool people this weekend.
sweetdragon is a lot of fun and she and her husband are great together.  The people in Indy were awesome as well.  Good times.

I really need to take more road trips.  I also really need to save more money and pay more bills.  Conflict.

In the mood for a good horrible movie?  Go watch Machine Girl.  It's like a low budget Kill Bill only, since it was made in Japan, it has giant robots (well, a giant robot arm), women in school girl outfits, and panty shots.  I think panty shots and robots were written into the treaty which ended WWII.  If not, someone needs to get Booster Gold on that.

I think I might need to inflict Machine Girl on
maufry.  It's in the same vein as a bad horror movie.  Get it?  Vein!

Sorry.

You know what's a terrible idea?  Driving with a broken speedometer in the middle of the night with no one else around.  With other people about I can match my speed with theirs.  When it was just me in the dark (so I could barely see the scenery whizzing by or the mile markers for that matter) I was pretty much just guessing.  I swear I was driving 50 in a 70 for a good while.  Suck.  I really have to get that fixed.

The Dark Knight so lives up to its hype.  Everything about that movie is great.  Well, everything but Bale's Batman voice.  Couldn't they steal from Smallville's Green Arrow and give him a voice altering mic in the suit.  He sounds like he's trying out for the title role in Beauty and the Beast.  Hmmm.

I want to see it again.  Any takers, Cincy people?

movies, this is my story, cars and driving
