(I'm so glad to finally post this, that I can't be bothered with fixing spelling mistakes... there are tons)
It's about time I caught up with the lists... Here is the list for May-July 2010.
I've read 5 books
Seen 44 movies
and bought 8 CDs
Books:
1. In The Woods - Tana French
It a good book where the characters are flawed, but not annoying. The mystery is good, and the story is interesting.
I'm actually thinking of reading the next book.
2. The Scarpetta Factor - Patricia Cornwell
I'm not sure why I continue to read Cornwell's books. They are OK, but they don't amaze me. The characters annoy me, especially since she stopped writing in first person. And I have to say, the stories make no sense to me... maybe this one will be the last?
3. Intuition - Allegra Goldman - hebrew translate - I have no idea why I read this.
4. Child 44 - Tom Rob Smith - This is one of the best books I've read lately. It starts a bit slow but after a few chapters it was difficult putting it down.
Just like in movies that are set in NY, NY is a character. In this book, Communist Russia is a big character.
5. Lost Symbol - Dan Brown - Hebrew translate - There is an advantage to reading Dan Brown in Hebrew - it's read fast, and you don't feel like you've wasted precious time for something you already read
Movies:
1. Sky High (re-watch) - I probably said it before, I have a thing for teen advanture movies, and this one has super powers.. so yeah!
2. The Proposal - I wasn't expecting anything from this movie, and it was (of course) predictable... but I enjoyed it.
3. The Yellow Handkerchief - Another strangers on a road trip movie. It was ok.
4. How I married my high school crush/ The wedding Wish - I admit I totally watched it for Katee Sachoff, but I absolutly don't remember what happens in the movie.
5. Fast and Furious 4 - It was on TV, so I watched it...
6. Her Best Move - I really remember nothing about this movie, but the vague recollection of watching it.
7. The Front - based on Patricia Cornwell book (one that I haven't read) wasn't incredible.
8. The Bourne Identity (re-watch) - I really, really like this movie - the whole series really
9. Next - what a silly film.
10. Wasabi (re-watch) - I didn't remember this movie being as silly as it was. But I remember the wasabi eating scene very well, and I really re-watched it for that. and for Jean Reno - I love him.
11. Rock'n'Rolla - another waste of time
12. The Rebound - I watched it on the plane. The story reminded me a bit of Prime. just another movie.
13. Inglorious Bastards - I heard a lot about this movie. A lot of good things. (please don't kill me) But I didn't really think much of it.
14. Secret Defence - A french movie about war against terrorism... I totally didn't get it.
15. 3:10 to Yuma - Honestly, it bored me.
16. Waltz With Bashir - Another film on which a lot of good things have been said, but I didn't find it spactacular at all.
17. Babylon A.D. - A friend of mind summarized the experience perfectly when he said: "When the movie finished I cried. I will not get the time back"
18. Coco Avant Chanel - Maybe because before seeing this movie I saw a mini series about Coco Chanel which had some contradicting story lines. But this movie bored me. Either way, both from the movie and the mini series - I don't like Coco Chanel
19. The Circuit - Michelle Trachtenberg as race car driver... 'nuff said.
20. Vicky Cristina Barcelona - I thought I will not like this movie, as of late Woody Allen annoys me, but I really enjoyed this one.
21. In the Valley of Elah - I still haven't seen the begining (it's waiting for me). But the movie was pointless in my opinion
22. Angels and Demons - I like the book... the movie was better the De-Vinci...
23. The secret diaries of Miss Ann Lister - It is suprising that such a new movie (even made for TV) aired so fast here... it was ok. I've seen better
24. Terminator 2 (re-watch) - Excellent movie
25. Terminator 3 (re-watch) - John Connor is a whiny little pissant
26. Terminator 4 - Just another action movie, it could have been called something else, and not have John Connor in it, and it would be the same
27. Gaudi Afternoon - Judy Davis, Marcia Gay Harden, Lili Taylor, Juliette Lewis. there are lesbians, bi's, trans, and Barcellona. And it's just stupid.
28. Date Night - I love Tina. Not a huge fan of Steve... but together it was fun.
29. State Of Play - Even though it has Ben Affleck in it - it was a good film.
30. Praying for Bobby - The "fiction" version of "For the Bible Tells Me So". It's not really fiction because it's based on a true story. It was ok... but it's really not a movie for me.
31. Wild Target - I saw it on a plane. it's a crazy movie with Bill Nighy, Emily Blunt, and Rupert Grint.. I enjoyed every minute of it.
32. The Watchmen - didn't blow my socks off... maybe I should have read the graphic novel first.
33. How About You - A little film about a group of elderly in a nursing home, and the "disfunctional" nurse babysitting them for Chrismas. It stars Vanessa Redgrave among others. And it a very nice film.
34. Red Belt - I stummbled upon it by accident, at first I thought it was going to be a fights movie (because of the description about martial arts), but then I saw it's a David Mamet, so that of course makes it a bit different. But I didn't actually like the movie that much.
35. Tribute - It's based on a Nora Roberts book, so really what can you expect
36. The Neighbor - It tries to be like a classic romantic comedy, where the main characters can't stand each other and then they fall in love... but I couldn't stand them either
37. TiMER - Almost everyone in the world has a timer which tells them when they are going to meet their soulmate. Emma Caufield stars in it as someone whose timer hasn't started yet, which means her soulmate doesn't have a timer... and she's looking. It was nice, and surprisingly didn't end the way I thought it would (ie. not predictable)
38. InkHeart - Brandon Frazer can read characters out of books... chaos insues.
39. The Boat that Rocked - Wacky, crazy and absulotly fun movie... with tons of great music.
40. Happily N'ever After - The fairytale world is in danger...
41. The Cutting Edge 3 - Not sure why I watched it, but only when watching this one, I finally figured the connection between the first and second movie..
42. The Cutting Edge 4 - It was the next movie on TV...
43. Sarrogates - Bruce Willis stars in this movie, which takes place in a world where humans have sarrogate robots who do the daily things we do, as the humans control them remotly from the safety of their homes. Until someone starts killing... It's a very interesting movie
44. The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 - John Travolta and Denzel Washington. and Train HiJacking... It was an OK film, but a bit long (and since it regular film lenght, it means it just felt long).
CDs:
1. K's Choice - Echo Mountain
2. Archive - Unplugged
3. La Maison Tellier - L'art de la Fugue
4. Soulsavers - Broken
5. The National - High Violet
6. The Hold Steady - Heaven is Whenever
7. The New Pornographers - Together
8. The Best Of Shlomo Gronich - an Israeli CD
My goal for August is to finally go see a movie in the cinema after a long time I haven't.
In the desired list (for now): Inception and Salt
