My 2007 lists - #3 - Music

Feb 02, 2008 13:02

There were times during which I would buy about 10 discs a month. This didn't happen during 2007. I bought in total 56 cds and didn't get to my goal of having 900 cds (it's ok, I think by the end of February I'll get there).
Here is the list (Israeli albums are just marked as Israeli)

January:
1. The Killers - Sam's Town

32 - 34 Israeli

September:
35. Sia - Lady Croissant
36. Johnny Cash and Willy Neslon - VH1 Storytellers (two weeks after I got it from B&N, my local music store started importing it. one month later the price dropped...)

39. Willie Nelson - The Essential
40. Emma Pollock - Watch The Fireworks
41. Patrick Watson - Clost To Paradise

43. Johnny Cash - At Folsom Prison

November:
44. I'm not there - soundtrack
45. Loretta Lynn - Van Lear Rose
46. Sarah Blasko - What the sea wants, the sea will have
47. Mark Erelli - Hope and Other Casaulties (In my stupidity, I hadn't bought this when I saw him opening for Catie Curtis, so I had to pay more for the shipping)

December:
48. The New Pornographers - Challengers
49. Iron & Wine - The Shepherd's Dog
50. Damien Rice - 9
51. Damien Rice - Live from the union chapel
52. Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan - Ballad of the Broken Seas
53. KT Tunstall - Drastic Fantastic
54. Laura Veirs - Saltbreakers
55-56 Israeli
Best Album: When I started thinking about it, I thought it was going to be KT Tunstall's Drastic Fantastic, but as I look at the list I remember how much I loved The New Pornographers' Challengers, and Johnny Cash and Willy Nelson's VH1 Storytellers, and Travis' The boy with no name. So I guess all of them will make the list.
Worst Album/Biggest Disappointment - It's very difficult deciding that, especially since most albums I haven't really listened to much... (that's the problem with buying so much). But I'll have to say, I was disappointed with Loretta Lynn and I had "problems" with P.J. Harvey.
Maybe I just need to re-listen to them all.
What's coming in 2008: I'm looking forward to Sia's new album, and Cat Power (it already came out, just not here), a few Israeli re-issues and the new Counting Crows. And of course, my never ending to buy list.
