Happy *discreet burp* post-Christmas, everyone. I had a good one, with la famille, and many unattractive salads that I made which turned out to be delicious. Also, I got some good present, and my dad nearly wept with joy over the onion-chopping machine I bought him.
Boxing Day, the only day of the year when I feel justified in doing utterly nothing. Woke up and had a mysterious cry, feeling melancholy; I read a lot of Imperium by Robert Harris, and went for a walk. Felt better eventually. Ate salad (well, someone had to).
I am unlikely to be the first Melbourne peep to mention this, because it was so startling: Christmas brought WINTER. It is very very odd. Has quite thrown me. Instead of the usual overcast but warm day, say 25-30 degrees, it was BITTERLY COLD, there was more rain --rain!! -- than in the six months previous put together, and HAIL. It SNOWED outside Melbourne. My brother-in-law, who has come to visit from England with my sister, has gone into a funk and says he wants his money back. Really, really very strange. It's a good thing there's no evidence of climate change though, huh?
And in late news, I just watched a documentary about Errol Flynn and OH MY GOODNESS but he was sexy. OH YES. I always thought of him as Robin Hood with that awful little soup-catching goatee but na-uh, he was HOT HOT HOT. ERROL: I know you're dead, but CALL ME.
