Song: Joan Osborne - Spooky

Summer’s in the middle of the dancefloor and everybody’s watching her. Anna can see them all, all the guys watching as Summer moves slowly, seductively, beautifully. Anna knows what’s going to happen, knows that later Summer’ll got to the bathroom and she’ll follow. They’ll kiss, make out some time before Summer pulls away and goes back outside where they’re waiting for her.
Anna’s startled when Summer takes her by the hand, smiling. And then they are in the middle of the dancefloor, and Summer kisses her; Summer whispers, “Merry Christmas”; Summer whispers, “It’s all for you”; and everybody’s watching them.

Song: Bright Eyes - Lover I don't have to love

Her lips crash against Theresa’s, hungrily. She doesn’t think, I’m kissing a girl, she doesn’t think, I’m kissing Theresa. For the first time in months she can stop thinking without the help of alcohol, and when she feels Theresa’s tongue tracing her lips, Marissa gladly moans into her kiss, and it really isn’t too much different from kissing LukeRyanDJ except that it is, except that it is. Her hands slide up and down Theresa’s back, over her swollen belly; they cup Theresa’s breasts and in the end just pull her closer, to make her feel better, to make her forget.

Song: The Killers - Somebody told me

It was just a kiss, she tells herself later when she steps out of her pumps and puts her purse on the table in the entrance. The rooms downstairs are all dark when she makes her way upstairs, but she can see light from under the door of the bedroom Caleb and she share. She waits a moment before she opens the door; he’s in bed reading the newspaper. He doesn’t ask her how the dance was and she doesn’t tell; she goes over to the bathroom instead and stares into the mirror. Her lipstick is slightly smeared. Julie smiles.

Song: Aimee Mann - The Scientist

“Bye Blanche.“ Summer watches Anna leave and she doesn’t stop her.
Later she talks to Seth, who still thinks that Anna is leaving because of him. Summer wishes she could believe him but she knows it’s her, her lack of courage. She wonders if she could stop her if she went to the airport now, but then she kisses Seth and tells him to go after her and that is her decision. Now that the other Princess has left, the Princess and the Prince will live happily ever after, and Summer doesn’t cry when Seth returns without Anna.
“Bye Rose.”

Song: Death Cab for Cutie - Lack of color

Summer isn’t thinking about Anna. She kisses Seth, kisses him some more before taking off her clothes. It’s all very simple now that they have finally figured it out; each of them has their special moves, it’s like a dance to which they eventually managed to learn their steps. Summer actually asks him whether he has practised and when all he does is grin she knows he has. Afterwards they’re just lying there, a little sweaty and still comfortable; they’re not talking. He’s not thinking about Ryan and she’s not thinking about Anna, so it’s all good. It’s all good.
