I'm off today, can you tell? ;-D

Days off are lovely, and I can say this with great confidence and much experience. ;-D (However, I've started having the uncomfortable teaching dreams almost nightly. I'm usually showing up to class without anything planned, and my students all hate me. I can tell August is approaching ... ;-D The bad part of me keeps saying, Hey, you've got until after Labor Day! But the responsible part of me says, That's not very long! Get planning!)

Hope you had the perfect mixture of productiveness and unstructured free time.

Oh, and you should feel guilty for being so persuasive and smart that you've made me admit the many flaws of DH! ;-D

Lex's father is named Lionel. Does sound a bit like Lucius, doesn't it?

Yes, in that "they both start with L and sound somewhat old fashioned" way, they do!

There was something else ... Oh! John Irving. I liked what I read, for the most part (I've read three of his books and liked two). I liked his sense of humor and his narrative style. But I sometimes found his characters to be so absurd that I'm not as interested in them as I want to be. If you do read any Irving, let me know what you think. I'm still reading Pullman's His Dark Materials series. I'm almost through Book 2 (The Subtle Knife); I like the series so far. Like, not love. Certainly worth the read, though.

Okay, enough from me. Have a good evening!

Hey, hey, don't forget that they both have an "i" ... :-D

I've got to start reading the His Dark Materials series. Just like I say I've got to read the Discworld series and the rest of the Mary Russell series and the Thursday Next books I've missed.

Oy. Why can't all the books I want to read be on CD at my library? I'm lazy and cheap, damn it.

Oh dear. Today, when the newscaster declared that it was Time to Shop for Back to School, DH (husband, not book) said "noooooo!" and put his fingers in his ears.
