Well, I have survived Thanksgiving. Depsite people canceling, other random people showing up, and a great turkey hunt, I had a great time. I did manage to find another turkey on Thursday morning, and my butcher came through for me and so in the end I had two trukeys and a pork shoulder. I cooked half of the pork shoulder and the butcher is holding the other one.
Our menu consisted of:
Turkey, mashed potatoes, cornbread and chorizo stuffing, prok shoulder, greenbean casserole, corn casserole, sweet potato casserole, cranberry sauce, gravy, bread, brownies, pumpkin pie and apple pie. Everything was really good. Just like home, which was the idea.
About only 15 or 20 people ended up showing up, which in the end was a blessing. There was more than enough food for everyone, and although me apartment was full, it wasn't too crowded. I think everyone had a good time and with Jenny's help and all the cooking I did the day before, I was also able to sit down and enjoy everyone's company too. I now however have more food in my fridge than I can ever possibly eat. One of the greatest tings about Thanksgiving is definitely the leftovers, but I think that I won't need to buy meet for the rest of the year. :)
Overall verdict: Success
