Movies and Alanis. What else is there?

Weeell, it's been pretty quiet around here. I've been fairly busy lately. Spring break was nice and relaxing, but for the two weeks after I got back I was just slammed. A speech and about four papers and two midterms and two quizzes. It was crazy, but it's starting to settle down a tad now.
Sooo, exciting things that happened since the last time I made a real update....

Well, Brandi came to visit last week, which was lovely. She brought me my fish, and we saw I liked it. I was confused a little bit, but after I stopped asking so many specific questions I got it more. I understood the point of the movie...government controls people, they let government control them, V uses Guy Fawkes as a model to stage his own "terrorist attack" on the government blah blah blah. But I didn't understand how he got out of the facility at St. Marys. And I didn't understand why they showed him with no eyes, when he clearly is not blind. Maybe it was some symbolism that totally went over my head. And there were a few other details I didn't understand. I don't know...but those things don't matter really, in the grand scheme of the movie. Overall, I thought it was pretty good. Although there's all this buzz about the movie being compared to the Bush administration. I didn't really think it was some big statement about the state of the world today or anything. More a highly entertaining...cautionary tale, perhaps. I tend to focus more on each character's personal story/motivations etc. than try and call it some brilliant political commentary. Anyway, yes. I liked it. Except every time they played the 1812 overture, I started thinking about Farscape. And then I started thinking about Ben Browder in leather pants, so that was a minor distraction.

Then my mom came up last weekend, and we saw Slither. Which was hilarious. I really didn't expect much, but I wanted to go anyway, because well...I love my captain. But I really enjoyed it, actually. We laughed almost constantly. Nathan was, of course, amazing. And I didn't know he was in it before I got there, but the Sheriff from The Train Job did a pretty good job too.

School is going well. I had two midterms, which I got a 92 and a 94 on. I'm very close to getting a 4.0 this semester. My lowest grade is a 90%, and in that class I just have to earn 109 out of 120 points still left and I'll get an A. So. *crosses fingers*

Now, for the disturbing news. Apparently Alanis is on hiatus for an indefinite amount of time? I cried...I'm not even gonna lie. Because I've been in a real Alanis mood lately, and I just started getting active on the message boards and scouring for live mp3's etc and then BOOM. I see that. But hopefully she just wants to take a year off to get married. A year, I can handle. I'm so happy she's engaged and all happy and thinking about starting a family and such, but even if that is the case it doesn't make sense. According to imdb Ryan Reynolds has four movies classified as either filming, pre-production, or announced. And getting married and making babies kind of requires both parties to be present and available. So I'm curious as to what's going on. I've had nightmares about her not putting out any more records. Seriously.

Aaaand because one of my favorite hobbies is cross-referencing the release schedule on Box Office Mojo and the Apple trailer site...

Brick -Currently in LA and NY, to be release in other select cities on the 7th. No word about good old Ohio, though. Emilie de Ravin from Lost, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. This trailer is worth watching simply for the voiceover he does at the beginning of the trailer. You know he's on Jessica's List of Pretty Boys. No one can say "Emily" and sound that...well, just watch it.

Lady in the Water- *squeals* There's a trailer for the new M. Night Shyamalan movie. I just adore him, and this looks so good. Starring Bryce Dallas Howard, whom I think is just amazing. She was Ivy Walker in The Village. July 21, '06.

Ask the Dust- Collin Farrell, Salma Hakey, and yes...Idina Menzel. Released March 10, but only limited.

R.V- Robin Williams and Kristen Chenoweth. Yay! And also Josh Hutchinson, who is cast as Jess Aarons in the Bridge to Terabithia movie. I've got my eeeeye on this kid. Released April 28th.
