Author’s Notes: This is fluff. Pure fluff. You have been warned! Set late first series probably, no spoilers though. This just came about, a bit of fluff-smiley stuff is always nice. And thought it was approriate as my last post as a teenager, haha.
Song lyrics at the start are Darius - colour blind. Have no idea why that song came back to mind... but it did, and this happened. Comments please if you read, thank youu :)

Nobody warned me about your smile,
Nobody said you’d be so beautiful.
(Colour blind, Darius)

Jack stared through the glass portion that divided his office from the main hub. The rest of the team were working hard, sat at their computers. He could hear their laughter through the wall and he smiled. There were times when he would go out there, and join them or tell them to get on with their work, but today he didn’t feel so inclined. He liked hearing their laughter, it made him smile. He felt rather isolated there in his glass box.

He was thoroughly distracted from his work, just watching his team work. They made him happy.
His eyes rested on the young Welsh man who only recently had become so much of the team. When
Jack had hired him he hadn’t thought that he would draw him in like this. No one had warned him (why should they?) and he, Captain Jack Harkness had believed he was infallible. He wouldn’t fall that easily.

But he had. And he was still falling.

‘Jack?’

A knock on the door and Jack was bumped out of his daydream.

‘Yep, listening.’ He flashed Gwen his smile, showing her that he was listening.

She began talking to him - no at him - about some report that was coming in through the police that she thought they should be checking out. He was nodding in the right places, acting like he was listening, when really he was completely distracted.

‘You’re not listening are you?’

‘Why would you say that?’

Gwen just shook her head and put the file down on his desk. ‘There, work for you to do.’

‘Gwen,’ He called as she turned to go. ‘You’re right, maybe we should check this out.’ He nodded, and she grinned, happy with this.

‘Right, yes, thanks.’ She smiled and left his office, leaving him sat at his messy desk. He sighed and picked the file up, flicking through the contents. The words weren’t registering in his mind. He got to his feet, and went to the door that divided his office from the main hub.

‘Ianto.’ He called, his voice sounding through the hub.

Ianto turned at the sound of his voice and smiled at him.

‘Couldn’t make us some coffee could you?’ He asked.

‘Of course.’

Ianto left his desk, and Jack smiled as he watched him disappear to his coffee station, before bringing his attention back to Gwen who was waving more papers in his face.

‘Right, what we got here?’ He asked, taking a print out and scanning through it.

He frowned. ‘Gwen, keep checking the police reports... Tosh, check the rift activity for the past couple of hours, see what you can find, Owen...’ He gave the team their orders, and then not a moment too soon Ianto reappeared with a tray of steaming coffees. Jack grinned appreciatively.

As he held the warm coffee in his hands he watched Ianto as he moved from desk to desk, giving each team remember a mug of coffee, and taking away old mugs that were growing in piles.

Jack just stood there.

Nobody had warned him. Nothing had told him to stop. He was in too deep; he was past deciding things on his own terms. This was more than that. Ianto could take his heart and his mind and squeeze it through his fingers, and completely crush him. He managed to have that much of a hold over him. It scared Jack sometimes, the way he could feel like this. Especially when he had never meant to; but that was the way it always went, you always felt for those you thought you weren’t going to. There was something about Ianto that made him just want to be in his company, and hear his voice, and his laugh, constantly. And Ianto didn’t seem to mind it.

That was always a positive Jack pondered.

‘Sir?’

Jack jumped at the sound of Ianto’s voice, as the man appeared silently appeared next to him.
Or maybe Jack had been completely in his own world. He just nodded. Ianto was telling him that he was going down to the archives, and Jack was just stood there like an incompetent, love sick teenager, not that Jack would let Ianto know, but Ianto had all the advantages here.

Jack just nodded and Ianto disappeared, leaving Jack alone again, doing nothing, and feeling like a shop dummy stood there, immobile.

Nobody, nobody had said a thing to him. And now here he was, feeling like he had never thought he would. Nobody had warned him.

It was the smile.

Always the smile.
