Phoenix Rising
Now that I've fully recovered from my weekend (well, almost), I thought I'd drop a quick note to say what a blast I had at Phoenix Rising.
This was my first Harry Potter conference (my first fan conference of any sort) and I had a great time. I met so many wonderful people, including the infamous and fabulous madam_minnie, satindolls, dream_wia_dream (who graciously let me use her internet and showed me porn - how cool is that?), simons_flower, and my new fabulous RLFF and Ravenclaw mom enelya_oronar. And a big SMOOCH and thanks to redblaze for talking me into the trip and introducing me to all of her cool friends!
I'm always thinking of ways to turn my HP obsession into some kind of academic project, so I'm so glad I had a chance to meet heidi8 and Dr. Henry Jenkins, who helped put the whole fandom thing in context, legally and historically. And enelya_oronar did an awesome presentation on internet legislation and has a chapter in the new book,
The Psychology of Harry Potter: An Unauthorized Examination of the Boy Who Lived!!!
