He sighs a bit. "Oh, you know. The trials and tribulations of being a dad, know what I mean?" he replies as casually as he can. A dad who, for various reasons, lives fairly far away from his flesh and blood, anyway. "Nothing I can't handle."
He sighs. "Well, I have my reasons. It's better for her where she is right now, anyway. Better neighborhood, you know?" And, more importantly, away from anybody bad who might find out he has family. "But it gets kinda hard to get all the way over there sometimes."
Ky frowns a little, his father often said the same thing - i.e: Why he couldn't come with, giving the blond a nostalgic cast to his face. "But least you try to get over there?"
Oh boy. This was the sort of thing he knows makes him look flaky as hell. But it's not like he can admit any of it out loud. "You know. Business. Stuff like that," he replies as evasively as he can.
Sure, we'll go with that. "Ah, you know. Gotta make money anyway you can, right? It's just a little side gig. Nothing major." He sighs. "Still, she's not really at an age to appreciate that sort of thing, you know?"
