I'm doing some online work before meeting a student for a consultation. One of my students dropped (after her first lesson, she went on vacation.. that doesn't exactly make it stick. She said she's overwhelmed with acting AND singing lessons). I thought I'd pick up one last student for August. I have about 13 right now, I think. I will try to add five more in September.
I just looked at my fall schedule and I have room for 20 hours of teaching. Since I only want to do 10, it should be relatively easy to shuffle students around; I just hope I don't lose any in the transition. Classes are going to be cool-- seminars on Verdi, Mozart opera, Alexander Technique, French! And uh, Music Theory Review. I never took the placement exam; I think I'll just bite the bullet and review those German Augmented Whatevers. Couldn't hurt.
I'm auditioning for the title role in Giulio Cesare. Another Handelian man-warrior part, which fits me and my voice like a glove. GIVE IT TO ME COREY!!!!
Today is the first day of August, which begins my Burning Man Boot Camp. We leave in 30 days! Tying up loose ends with our camp. Organizing supplies. Cleaning disgusting costume items (ew!). I am also upping my workout. I've been running a couple of miles about 3-4 times a week and biking a few hours a week, as well as doing half-assed abs and arms and stretches. Well, now it's SERIOUS! I need to add strength and stamina for the playa. It's tough to party that hard for that long in those conditions, and keep it all good and fun. I want to be fit and limber, especially if I decide to spin on a pole while high (or hung over). Also, a couple of the costumes I made for this year show my midsection! AHH! I can't remember the last time I willingly showed my belly in public. I think it was for a Paul Oakenfold concert when I was 18. Yep, it was an orange bandeau. Well, now it's pasties. (Right, I tore apart a wedding dress and made myself a very salacious day (!!) costume).
SO: 30 mins of running 5x a week
30 mins of abs, arms, and glutes exercises 3x a week
15 mins of stretching after EVERY RUN! (I'm lazy with this one)
Day One: Check.
It doesn't help that my bike was stolen, I liked mixing up my sweating. Now it's all jogging. Oh well. I'll get a newer, cooler one in September.
Andy was so Zen about the thievery. I was angry and wanted to remain angry, but he was all, "Whaddayagonnado?" Damn easygoing boyfriend.
Speaking of, I spent way too much money ($129 is a lot for me) and got him awesome DJ headphones. I've been sneaking in mixing practice too, it's so fun!
