well i haven't really updated.... since uh... well... hpness?? speaking of which, i was bored so took hbp quizzes ppl made after only reading it on the 16th and i did fairly well on the "very hard" one, with ridiculous details (only missed 2) but missed 4 on the "medium" one which was general plot stuff. why does my mind pick out details but not big picture stuff?? weird... so yea, heres my schedule for next year... not too bad... plus my global environment theme house seminar thursday nights that im not enrolled in yet cuz i dont have the cec yet.... anyways... light load... they only want freshmen to do 13-15 units their first semester and im gonna do 14.... my sister's pissed cuz she does more than me and she's on teh quarter system.... in other college news... my mom took money out of a moneymarket account that apparantly i have so i can pay the minimum for the aug 15 deadline cuz apparantly when my uncle sends us a check from my gmas trust, it would take 25 days for it to be available for me to spend but if you wire it from another account you can spend it instantly.... so yea, hopefully i will have paid the 4800 whatever i needed to by tmw afternoon... yea, sorry to bore all of you with this but this has been the only thing on my mind lately cuz my mind is a little blank...

so a little more info on my classes if you were wondering which im sure you werent... chem 1a is just first semester inorganic chem... english r1a is a requirement, well any r1a but the other r1as didnt sound appealing in the slightest and apparantly the section i signed up for goes like this: "In this class we will read Ralph Ellison’s two novels, Invisible Man and the recently compiled reader’s edition of his magisterial forty-year work-in-progress, Juneteenth. We will also read sizable excerpts from his collection of essays, Shadow and Act, and from the works of cultural theorists such as W. E. B. Du Bois, C. L. R. James and Frantz Fanon. One of the ultimate goals of the class will be for students to integrate the theoretical concepts elaborated in works such as these into argumentative essays on Ellison’s literary work. For example, W. E. B. Du Bois understands African Americans to be possessed of a “double-consciousness,” a “sense of always looking at one’s self through the eyes of others,” a condition that is simultaneously alienating and generative of a valuable kind of “second-sight.” This concept will help orientate our approach to the models of consciousness explored in Ellison’s literary work, as well as the later Marxist and psychoanalytic models of consciousness we will explore. Students will be expected to write numerous short essays, with increasing emphasis being placed on close reading, literary analysis and theoretical argumentation.
Book List:
Ellison, R.: Invisible Man
Ellison, R.: Juneteenth
A course reader"
so it really doesn't sound all that bad. at least not compared to those that have jane eyre, robinson crusoe, tale of two cities, mary barton, and frankenstein on the reading lists... ok, so those aren't the hardest books, but i only have 2 to read... theres some that seem really horrible but the copy-paste thing really doesnt work too well with that page apparantly and i dont feel like typing the book lists....
then espm 50ac. this fulfills my american cultures requirement. it's title is Introduction to Culture and Natural Resource Management. want a description? too bad, here ya go: An introduction to how culture affects the way we use and manage fire, wildland and urban forests, rangelands, parks and preserves, and croplands in America. The basic concepts and tools for evaluating the role of culture in resource use and management are introduced and used to examine the experience of American cultural groups in the development and management of western natural resources.
the vision sci seminar is about optical illusions... when i signed up for it i didnt read the paragraph about teh professor.... he's the dean of the school of optometry. my contacts doctor went to the school of optometry at berkeley. and now im taking a seminar with 16 other ppl and her former dean. little freaked out. but should be fun.
overall, i guess im looking forward to next year. classes dont seem that bad. fun even. in the theme program, so hopefully will meet some cool ppl there. and if not, foothill is notoriously less social which i most definitely am. so ill find other ppl like me there. im really rather lethargic and i dont know why. but anyways. ask me a question someone. leave a comment or something.
