Inspired by Nicholas Sparks' The Choice.
It's a wonderful book. Really.
Some parts are written according to the scenes in that book, but modified a bit.XDD
The ideas are all credited to Nicholas Spark for his wonderful idea.

Yunho knew he couldn't postponed seeing her any longer, and he rose from his seat by the entrance and headed along the corridor of the place which he hated a lot. The smell of antiseptic and medicine hung around the air and into his nostrils. He makes a face in disgust. He hated the smell of those medicine. He hated coming to the hospital, that was a fact.

Clutching onto the flowers he had bought, he went straight towards the room where he had been visiting for these past few weeks. Forcing a smile to himself, he walked towards the bed, towards the figure whom he had missed so very much, and planted a soft kiss on her forehead.

"Hello, dear."

Hoping for a response he knew he wouldn't get, Yunho sighed softly before replacing the flowers he had bought with the ones that were already in a condition where it was wilting away. Looking at the face of his dearly beloved, the feeling of guilt washed over him again, the scene replaying in his head over and over again.

If only he could turn back time, then all his problems would never have occurred.

"Guess what? Mineun managed to finish her cereal today while Yooeun managed to finish three quarters of hers. This is such a happy news, no? I know you're always worried about them eating well so don't worry, alright? I have this under control." Yunho smiled as he recalled what had happened earlier where both his darling daughters were eating their cereals obediently.

He took a seat in the chair by the bed and reached for her hand. Her skin was pale, her body seemed smaller and he noted how her lips were losing its color.  Still, she was remarkable to him as she had been the first time he laid his eyes on her.  It amazed him that he'd known her for almost fifteen years, and those ten years in that fifteen were the ones he had enjoyed the most in his life. He had spent countless evenings, nights, mornings with his lovely wife, his entire life was what he called a blessed and happy generation. That was why he was here in the first place, the same reason on why he had been for the past few weeks her had spent in the hospital. It wasn't because he had to, it was because he couldn't imagined where else he could be other than being here with her.

Sixty nine days had past since the accident, and it was time to make a choice. He didn't know what he should do. Lately, he had been searching answers in the bible, but all remained unanswered. Occasionally, he would find  a striking passage, or a verse, but it stops right there. It holds no special meaning to his question, and he would constantly closed the cover and stared into the sky, hoping that all these had not happened. Or how he wished it was him that was on the bed, and not her.

Tears started forming on his eye lit when the memory flooded back into his head, the memory of that dark night where everything went wrong; the root of this problem.

Yunho and Sooyoung had attended a distant cousin's wedding, which was located approximately three hours from their house. Unfortunately, he had forgotten to bring an umbrella with him, despite the weather forecast which predicted a heavy rain on that late evening. That was mistake number one. Leaving the restaurant at 11pm, Yunho had wanted to reach home as soon as possible because of their earlier shifts the next day at work. It was pouring heavily outside the restaurant, but shielding her with his coat, he rushed her towards the car. One of his friend stopped him before he could rushed out, asking whether he wanted to borrow his umbrella or not. Yunho had politely declined, feeling a bit worried that the umbrella might not be returned back to the owner, or that they would go their different ways.

He didn't wanted to bother and trouble his friend, so he declined. That was mistake number two. By the time he reached the car with Sooyoung, he was already soaked wet, especially at his feet. Time wasn't siding them at the moment, and desperate to returned home in time, Yunho had speed . Zooming past cars, driving in the passing lane, pushing past the speed line. That was mistake number three.

"Oppa, slow down!" Sooyoung had constantly reminded him, and he had constantly slowed down as well, but despite the amount of time she had asked him to slow down, he hadn't listen. Whenever there was an opportunity, he had step on the gas again. Frustrated with him, Sooyoung had turned her head away, closed her eyes and ignored him. Those were mistake number four and mistake number five.

The accident happened next and it could have been avoided if none of those had happened. Had he brought an umbrella with him or had he accepted his friend's offer by using his umbrella to avoid getting wet, had he not taken out his shoes in the middle of his driving because of the itching and annoying feeling he had, had he had listened to what his wife had told him so many times, Sooyoung might have still been watching out for him, stopping him when she realized what he wanted to do.

By the time Yunho had looked up from removing his shoes, it was already too late. The light had turned red and a truck was already entering the intersection. He hit the brakes abruptly, but the slippery road didn't contributed at all. It made the condition worse, and his car swerve to the railings at the side. He turned the wheels, hoping nothing would happened. For an instant, the world was moving in a slow pace, everything seemed to happened so slowly. The last thing he could remember before  he lost consciousness was  the loud sound of the shattering glasses .

Sooyoung didn't even had the chance to scream.

---

Yunho tucked a strand of hair behind her ears, hoping and hoping that she would move a finger, rolled her eyes, or curl her lips into a smile...but all that didn't happened. It was irony how before this accident happened, Yunho was the man that would only work and have fun with his kids. He was the most lousy cook ever, he suck in washing the cloths, tying his daughters' hair into braids.....it was all Sooyoung's job and duty.  Ever since Sooyoung had not woken up but he had, everything changed. He began to learn how to cook for his daughters, he learned house chores from Tiffany, Sooyoung's best friend, and learned how to tie braids for her daughter from Taeyeon, one of his cousins.

"You have to wake up, Soo. The girls miss you. They need you." He half begged.

"I need you."

---

"Yunho-oppa. What if one day our fate will be as same as Kibum and Yoona? What if one day one of us would lie on the bed and never move again? What will you do?" The sudden weird question popped out of Sooyoung's mouth and Yunho raised a brow.

"Why would you think like that, Soo?"
"No reason. I was just wondering."

Kibum and Yoona were the happily married couple in their streets. They were together for almost ten years, but things changed when Yoona got into a car accident and was in a coma ever since. Kibum had visited her almost everyday, with stories to tell each time. Yunho himself was shocked when one day, he bumped into Kibum on the way to the grocery shop. Ki Bum was looking very pale, thin and weak. His normal cheerful mood wasn't there anymore, his optimism had faded away. He wanted to die, that was what he told Yunho. Their teenage son was recently arrested again for taking drugs, and his daughter was spending more and more time at the disco, rather than where she should have been. Their studies were lacking out, and Kibum blamed himself for it.

"Well, if let's say this were to happen one day--"
"Oppa, will you promise me something?" Cutting through, Sooyoung asked.
"Anything."
"If I were to be like Yoona one day...to stop the suffering of you and our children..."

Yunho waited for what she wanted to say, and Sooyoung smiled.

"--will you let me die?"

---

The following week, Yunho visited the hospital again. Hoping again for any changes, his hope was drowned when the doctor reported that there were no movement or signal collected in her brain. It has been a solid three months since the car accident, and time was running out for Yunho. A choice has to made, but what choice? He didn't know.

"Please, Sooyounggie, Please...You have to wake up! You got to wake up!" He begged and begged, the thought of him having to leave his wife, having to buried his wife six feet underground were unbearable. He couldn't handle it. He didn't wanted to.

"Please....." He pleaded.

---

Forcing himself to work in his small little clinic his father had gave to him, Yunho smiled as he examined the young kid that was down with a fever. Quickly writing a prescription and asking the nurse to hand the correct medications to the little kid's mother, Yunho sighed as he realized that it felt wrong being in the clinic instead of being by her side. Although so, he knew that he must show a tough and strong  self towards his two daughters, in hope that they might not be weaken by what had happened to their mother.

The drastic rings coming from his cellphone made him jumped in fear. Quickly jabbing the answer button, he hears his sister's voice from the other line.

"Yunho?  Yunho? Come quickly now! Sooyoung...!" Jessica frantically screamed over the other line, and he could feel his heart stopped at that very moment. The unbearable thought attacked his mind, and he could feel tears streaming down his face as he quickly grabbed his coat, shouted at his nurse and headed towards the car.

"Jessica? WHAT happened? JESSICA?!" He yelled at the phone receiver, but no answer came for Jessica had already hung up the phone.

"Oh God. Please. No. Lord, please," he chant over and over again, tears continue to stream down his face as he rushed to the hospital.

---

Jessica paced to and fro, her expression barely readable as she waited and waited for her brother to appear. When she finally saw him running towards her with tears on his eyes, her heart nearly cried.

"Oppa...Oppa....!" She hugged her brother tightly, and her brother hugged her back half-halfheartedly, his mind was only set for one person, and that person what Sooyoung. All he was hoping now was a tiny fraction of a miracle, a tiny hope that Sooyoung wasn't gone. He needs that, he wants that.

"Sica...?" Asking for an answer while his heart pounded madly against his chest, Yunho asked the blond headed girl in front of her who was crying and....was that a smile??

"She's awake. Oppa. She's awake!"
