The five-minute update:
We need to find a place for us and 2 kitties to live by January 1st.
I have a retail interview tomorrow!
I also have another week's worth of temp work next week.
I'll be happy when the holidays are past - we're mostly ignoring them this year, which brings me great relief. I need to go back to the used bookstore tomorrow and pick up that Calvin & Hobbes book for Rob.
We went to DSHS today and they actually helped us! We have food stamps and cash coming and I have medical coverage. Not bad for one day's worth of work. I am very impressed with the efficiency of Thurston County VS Pierce County. They gave us real help, right away instead of dicking us around like Pierce always did. Plus, we can actually get there by bus.
Point of fact, we can get just about anywhere by bus around here.
Last weekend, we went to a very beautiful and simple Yule ritual hosted by OlyCUUPs, the Olympia chapter of the Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans. It's a bunch of solitary Pagans who get together for full moons and to celebrate the cycle of the seasons. It's a child-positive, creative and welcoming atmosphere with no dogma to swallow, and I like that. I'll be meeting up with them again in February. Anyway, after the Yule ritual, some friends took us out to dinner at King's Buffet, where they were so happy to see 20 customers in their empty restaraunt 2 hours before closing that they made up plates of fresh sushi on request and set aside a private room for all of us.
Things are just really looking up. I like it. Now, if we can find some digs, I'll be very happy.
