We haven't gotten anywhere on the IEP situation for next year yet, but our Behavioral Therapist is helping with that. She knows several advocates, and is making a plan for us to take to the Annual Case Review meeting. We will go over it at our next meeting with her, which is on the 31st. I'm feeling a little better on that front. I just hope I can be courageous enough to do what needs to be done. I don't like to be the squeaky wheel! I'll support the squeaky wheel if I agree with them! I just don't like that feeling of being under a microscope!
YUCK!!!
In other news, While Hannah and Scott were at the dance last night, I took Rachel to get her ears pierced. A couple of other little girls in her class had their ears pierced, so she decided that she wanted it too! So, I took her to Claire's at the mall. About 1/2 way there, I suddenly remembered the day she got her shots for Kindergarten.
She went very pale, and then threw up in the hallway of the health center. Then I remembered when she got the stitches after the dog bite. She went very pale and threw up before the doctor could finish the stitches. She had to re-clean everything before she could finish.
I got a bad feeling, but she insisted that she wanted to do it.
She did ok, overall. After the first ear, she teared up a little, but she didn't scream or sob. With the second ear, the back got stuck in the piercer, so the girl had to put it on by hand, and that made it hurt a little worse. After a minute, she went pale and said that she felt like she was going to throw up. The girl got her a garbage bag. She did dry heave a couple of times, but nothing actually came up.
She sat in the chair while I paid, and then we went right next door to Blondie's Cookies. After eating a cookie and having a drink, she felt much better. Then she wanted me to get my ears pierced too. I had told her that I would if it would make her feel better. Then we went to the Piercing Pagoda. (They don't do cartilage piercing at Claire's). I got two more holes in my left ear.
It funny how subjective pain is! She had the first on done before I even realized it! The one up in the cartilage hurt a little, but not as bad as I thought it would. She certainly is her fathers daughter! And Her Nana's Granddaughter, for that matter!
So now, we clean our new piercings together. Hannah told me that she wants to go get her's pierced after school today. We'll see, we'll see.
