Take a look at the
tags stats: C# is number one with 426k questions, java is #2 with 377k questions, php is #3 with 352k questions, and python is #8 with 169k questions. Even the C++ is more popular than Python.
Now take a look at the
2013 Moderator Election primaries, and click on the candidate names to see the tags of the questions/answers by the candidate.
You’ll notice severe disproportion.
50% of the 27 candidates are PHP experts. 30% are JavaScript, same 30% are database/SQL people. Merely 25% code Java. 20% code python. Only 15% are .NET developers. And only one person is C++ expert. WTF?
I already had cases when open source-inclined individuals e.g. remove perfectly correct answer they don’t understand, or vote to close questions that’s more complex than “how do I show date+time in PHP+Zend”.
