"Data Entries" newsletter

Nearly every element of fandom and fanfic can be traced to its germinal roots in Star Trek. Generally, TOS is the origin being referred to, but let's not forget that the pre-Internet fandom experience of TNG was very different from what we know today. Or was it?

I have a handful of "Data Entries" -- a Brent Spiner fanzine/newsletter which circulated fans via the postal service and sci-fi conventions. I scanned the most interesting of the bunch, the Winter 1988 issue. In some obvious ways it seems so primitive, yet it contains exactly what our blogs contain: fangirling, commentary, filk, doctored photos, fanart, and even "links" to articles relevant to our interests.

The scanned pages are a bit large, so I've just posted them as links to save space. Enjoy!
