I found the following note to myself in my phone's memo pad, where I keep a lot of notes about the things I've seen:
remember that you looked out of a train window like this one and thought that being here was a success, independent of any failure that might follow; that even if you can't write a klausur, you stood on mountains and drank in the schwarzwald and danced in münchen, and what you have done here and the people you have met are worthwhile already. remember that.
I didn't remember it until I read it - I wrote it on the train to Hessen over Christmas, going to see my family, at the beginning of my silly funk. It helped then! and it helps now. :D
