bumblestumble gave me xxxHolic, Paradise Lost, Saint Seiya and Owls of Ga'Hoole. Oh my god I have the weirdest fucking fandoms.
1. xxxHolic: Shizuka Doumeki
Doumeki is the glue that holds this bizarre, creepy, utterly nonsensical manga together. This, in fact, is the point of Doumeki - to be the grounding point for pretty much everybody else in the series. He grounds Watanuki to reality and to human emotion (this is true whether or not you ship it, but it is ttly canon now and you really should). He is, in fact, the grounding point for what is left of the plot - he holds the egg that is the ONE THING keeping xxxHolic from having no direction whatsoever. He waits and he adapts, but he doesn't change. I like this about him. I like how he has so much personality despite showing so little. I like how effortlessly accepting he is; I like his protectiveness; and why lie? I fucking love how he looks in hakama.
2. Paradise Lost: Abdiel
Oh my goodness. Abdiel. <3 LOOK AT SATAN THAT GREETING ON HIS IMPIOUS CREST RECEIVING. Abdiel's such a badass. And the subject of my favorite lines in the poem:
So spake the Seraph Abdiel, faithful found
Among the faithless, faithful only he;
Among innumerable false, unmoved,
Unshaken, unseduced, unterrified,
His loyalty he kept, his love, his zeal;
Nor number nor example with him wrought
To swerve from truth, or change his constant mind,
Though single. From amidst them forth he passed,
Long way through hostile scorn, which he sustained
Superior, nor of violence feared aught;

3. Saint Seiya: Lizard Misty
I was under the impression for some time that after Andromeda Saint Shun, Saint Seiya had hit some kind of gay ceiling. Then Lizard Misty got introduced and I was proven wrong. This guy has special sunbeams just for him. They censor his junk when he strips naked after a battle. (...As he does.) Come on. Junk-censoring sunbeams. He is, basically, the reason that nothing will ever be as amazing as Saint Seiya ever again. Also Vic Mignogna voiced him and tried to forget about it but I reminded him. :D
4. The Guardians of Ga'Hoole: Digger
Digger is, in short, everything I wish I were condensed into owl form. He's quietly determined - he ran (yes, ran) across a desert to find his lost parents as one of his first actions upon being introduced in the books. He's intelligent and wise and kind but not at all showy about it; he's proud of his unique talents and cheerfully brushes off shit he's given for being a burrowing owl, because he's too self-confident to deal with haters. He's a philosopher at heart who thinks deeply about problems but doesn't make it a point to make sure everybody knows he's thinking deeply; he just does. He gives the best advice and doesn't run his mouth. I love him in the movies, too - he made the "owls go" joke that I now repeat to absolutely everyone. :D
...So my fandoms have nothing in common, but (with the exception of Lizard Misty) I seem to go for the unwavering characters, perhaps to balance out the fact that I'm the most indecisive human being in the universe. HM.
