Without looking back at my last journal entry, I don't have a clue as to how long it's been since I've updated. Oh well. Right now I'm writing from one of the open computer labs at St. Andrews. I love it here. Can I stay for a little while...please? But not too long, because two weeks from yesterday and I'll be back in the States! And two weeks from tomorrow, and I'll get to see Kyle and go back to Norman! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!
Oh yes, Christmas was good. Kind of different because it was Europe, but hey, it's Europe. So it can't be all that bad, right? My parents decided that the first part of vacation should be in Graz-- on the theory of a white Christmas-- and the second part should be in Scotland. Turns out it warmed up in Graz and was in the 50s on Christmas Day, while it was snowing in St. Andrews. Go figure. And handily enough, everything in Austria closes down before Christmas, so that made for some interesting food hunts. On Christmas Eve, there was ONE restaurant open in the entire city, and all of the grocery stores were closed. By the time we left, Rachel was complaining that she was tired of the meat sandwiches and missed TV that wasn't dubbed into German. No joke!
After Austria, we flew to the UK and spent a night in this awesome manor/estate that is now a Marriot country club resort. I could have happily stayed there for a few more days. But bright and early the next morning, we made the drive to Edinburgh. Please remember that driving in the UK means that you're driving from the wrong side of the car on the wrong side of the road. Thank goodness for the accidental automatic, because otherwise there's no way Dad would have mananged the round abouts and saying "Sarah, there's another sign" at least 100 times. Sarah and I have decided that it's definitely a good thing that as a pilot, Dad has a large number of fancy navigational tools to get him where he's going. The man has no sense of direction. Really.
Right now I'm hanging in St. Andrews with Sarah, and we're heading to London to meet a couple of friends on the 2nd. The 4th is the date of the Championship that I will be unable to watch (So whoever has a TV should definitely turn it on and cheer for the Sooners. Time to grab that eigth National Championship. Boomer Sooner!). Then I fly back to Graz on the 6th, where I have to pack up, unregister with the magistrate, take a couple of finals, and then it's off to Dallas on the 13th. Can't wait!
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, and that you all have a happy New Year!
Oh yes, I've posted two of my 10 rolls on webshots, so check them out!
