Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities:
Faerie Blast/Photokinesis: In times of dire need or stress, Sookie is somehow able to project a bright light from her hands that seems to have the characteristics of electricity. It is capable of stunning and knocking back even powerful beings, or possibly doing severe damage to more mundane humans. Because it seems to be light based in a "good" sort of sense, and is so blindingly bright, it is likely a handy power to have in Siren's Pull. It should be noted that she doesn't fully understand this part of her as yet, and as such can't seem to make the energy happen without some effort (if it happens at all).
Telepathy: As long as she can remember, Sookie has been able to hear the thoughts of others. It's been a constant battle for her to attempt to block out the constant stream of consciousness around her, especially in crowded places. Her default now is tuning them out, like one does to music, but she can easily and without much effort read someone's mind even if they don't want her to. However, if someone who knows of her power concentrates very hard on something when they suspect she might be reading their mind, she can't easily figure out what they're hiding. In the event that she must delve deeply into someone's mind, she can do so by first initiating physical touch, then keeping eye contact. If another person is capable of aiding her with some form of telepathy, it would be difficult for the target to withstand their search. She can also disorient people via placing noise in their thoughts, but not ideas. Perhaps because of her telepathy powers, she's immune to mental manipulation via supernatural/magical/etc forces. The downside to this ability is the inability to tune out people's thoughts when she's tired, sick, stressed, or otherwise impaired; it's more of a burden than anything, so far as she's concerned. The only time she can really experience silence is when alone, or in the presence of someone whose mind she can't read: Vampires. (And, possibly, other types of beings now available to her in Siren's Pull.)
Delicious Faerie Blood: Because Sookie has (albeit diluted) Faerie blood in her veins, it makes her a delectable morsel to any supernatural being who enjoys feasting on the flesh or blood of humans. Vampires specifically find her exceptionally tasty, and in the event one drinks enough of her blood, they will find themselves either A) resistant to the sun, or B) stronger than previous, in the event that a vampire from another universe is already resistant.
Weapons: None.

Character History:
And so much more!Point in Canon: At the very end of season 3, when Claudine the Fae took her hand in the cemetery and disappeared with her. Instead of going to like Faerie Land or something, she's dropped in Siren's Port. Suckerrrrrrrrr.
Character Personality:
Born and raised in Bons Temps (bawn tawn), Louisiana, Sookie is the very picture of a southern girl. Not afraid to get her hands dirty; feisty when prompted; old-fashioned about her core values; and, through thick and thin, caring. She believes that women should be treated with respect, a rather unpopular opinion amongst most modern men, if you asked her. In fact, it doesn't matter if someone is mundane or a supernatural being capable of killing her with a bat of an eyelash: She expects (and feels she deserves) a basic level of civility. That, and her inability to hold her tongue around anyone she feels is being rude, is one of many reasons she's so thoroughly interesting to so many supes.
Just like a southern woman, she can be a bit (a lot) stubborn and unmoving when a man is somehow involved. As the fairer sex, she's aware of the power that women can hold over men, even if hers is rarely (if ever) actually tied to her sexuality. You see, Sookie is a bit of a prude. Not a virgin, just prudish at times, especially since most comments made about sex around her are derogatory toward her or women in general. She just doesn't stand for it. Even when the conversation isn't negative, she would rather beat around the proverbial bush than openly talk about what goes on under the sheets, and generally thinks that anyone pressing her for information is a nosy busybody with no manners.
Speaking of manners, she extends her kindness and politeness only as far as it's extended back to her. If someone wants to act the fool despite her attempts at being civil, she'll throw her manners to the wind to speak her mind. That happens a lot. She would, of course, rather not have to resort to biting comments or flashing her huge amount of attitude, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, and ain't no one gonna do it for her. Although she's a bit dependent on powerful vampire guys to save her from mortal peril, she's surprisingly independent and capable of taking care of a great deal on her own. Probably, that's because of how resourceful and smart she is, even though she was considered somewhat dim when growing up (it's hard to take tests when everyone's thoughts are distracting you.)
Even though she has her head on straight and her feet firmly planted on the ground, one of Sookie's biggest weaknesses is her care and concern for others. It clouds her judgment and makes her go against her gut instinct when someone appeals to her emotions, even if they aren't trying to do so. In some cases, she's definitely projecting a little bit -- assuming what someone is feeling or should feel, and acting accordingly. However, due to her telepathy, she's very good at reading people's emotions and moods. She rarely hesitates to put herself in danger if it means doing something that's important to someone she cares about, which okay. It's a little naive. Maybe a lot naive.
Sookie may have seen some really heinous and evil things, but she still ultimately believes that everyone is inherently good. Well, maybe not all vampires and supes, but she gives mundanes (and any vampires that aren't trying to kill or eat her) the benefit of the doubt. Innocent until proven guilty. Luckily for her, when they prove her wrong and show their true colors, she rarely makes an exception for them in the future and tries to avoid involving herself in their business.
Modest and humble, this southern girl doesn't consider herself or her powers to be anything particularly special. Mostly, her mind reading is a burden to her and her loved ones; she has to constantly work at keeping other's thoughts of her head, and that's not always possible... no one likes getting their thoughts read without their permission. She's generally apologetic about it but only to a point, because they know she can't help it. Still, just like they don't want their minds read, she doesn't always want to hear what her friends are thinking. Ignorance really can sometimes be bliss.
Despite her spitfire moments, Sookie isn't quick to anger. At least, not serious anger. She's quite patient and prefers a calm discussion to an argument (most of the time.) It takes a lot to get her truly riled up, or just specific hot-button topics that can range wildly from person to person. And although she can sometimes be set off rather quickly by those topics, she's quick to come back down and think rationally -- generally after a little while alone, away from people's thoughts.
Because she grew up as somewhat of an outcast (people were either scared of her or pitied her, and she heard so many of their narrow-minded opinions), she cherishes the friends that she does have and considers them more akin to family. It's difficult to lose her trust once she's added someone to her ranks of kin, and she does try very hard to be a good friend. Somehow, when everyone else is caught up in the tiny things happening in the now, Sookie can act as a rock and a shoulder to cry on. This can, of course, catch up with her after awhile. It's stressful being there for so many people while also balancing her own life and problems, especially since it seems sometimes that she's the only one capable of removing her blinders and seeing the whole picture. (This is not, actually, always true: Sookie is just a prone to getting wrapped up in her own drama as everyone else, but she does at least try to apologize to those it affects... most of the time, if she realizes it.)
Character Plans: Sookie does enjoy being a waitress, if only because it makes her feel normal. So she'd definitely want to work at Sam's club! (...Hahaha, Sam's Club.) Probably, at first, she'll be really fed up with all this magic/weird/universe junk and will do whatever she can to help whichever side appeals to her most in getting the heck out of dodge.

[Video! Sookie's made her NV stand up to record steadily, and as the feed starts it shows her hand coming away from pressing record. She's somewhere public with dim lighting.]
Y'know I don't think it's good for me, going back n'forth between night n'day. Sure, it's awful nice not havin' to stay up 'til dawn, but bein' stuck inside all night... sucks. [She makes various hand motions as she talks.] So it's either be a night owl or get up at the crack of dawn? Ya'll must drink enough coffee to kill a horse. [From off-screen, a hand sets down a cup of coffee in front of her; Sookie looks up and smiles brightly at the supposed waiter, says 'thank you,' then gives a shrug and an innocent smile to the camera.]

Although normally Sookie tried very hard to not overhear people's thoughts, there was so many strange people here that she was as curious as a cat. Some of what people were thinking was just as mundane or horrible as she was used to, but sometimes she found real doozies. Today, in a cafe, as she ate her favorite comfort food (pie, of course), she was only halfway listening to those around her. She used the side of her fork to cut a small piece of coconut pie from what little was left on her plate, then glanced up briefly as a guy sat down at the table beside her. Just before the pie made it into her mouth, she intercepted a few things from him: 1) He was extremely nervous, and 2) He was planning to propose to his girlfriend, possibly tonight.
"Propose?!" Sookie just couldn't help herself. The poor guy was surprised, to say the least, not just by the strange girl's sudden outburst but that she was commenting on what he had been thinking. "Here? Are you kidding me?" Her expression was all sorts of twisted, implying that -- along with her tone -- she thought it was a horrible idea. And wasn't it? This wasn't a permanent place, and not even the real world if you asked her. And, well, okay... her recent botched engagement to vampire Bill Compton, and her serious frustration/anger at him, and her more recent concern since she was here alone? That definitely tinted her opinion of the whole idea of marriage.
While he stared at her as if she'd just grown a second head, his thoughts broadcasted confusion, anger, and what finally made her back down a bit: Hurt. The blonde's face fell a bit, her features softening as she considered how insensitive that was. Even though this place sucked, maybe people needed to do what they could to stay sane and happy. Who was she to judge?
Trying to regain her composure, she sat up a little straighter and tilted her nose somewhat in the air in a failed attempt at seeming wise. "Just-- Just don't panic if she freaks out and doesn't answer right away. Ladies need time. I'm sure you'll do fine."
And, she added mentally, don't get kidnapped after proposing.
