Only in politics you say...Pity...

Politicians never fail to amaze me. Yesterday I read a story on the Torontoian site that reported a 3-month pilot project of a new MONSTER trashbin (aka advertising billboard disguised as trashbin) was given a failing grade by the committee set up to decide it. However in some bizarre contract twist the garabage cans cannot be removed until 2008! Okay so you fail, but we'll keep on using you for another 2 years.

Then I read this online today.

OTTAWA (CP) - The Liberals won't support an NDP motion before the Commons environment committee calling for the resignation of Environment Minister Rona Ambrose. The decision will avoid the risk of a fall election, since Prime Minister Stephen Harper has indicated he would consider the motion a matter of confidence. Liberal environment critic John Godfrey said the Liberals on the committee will abstain, ensuring that the motion will die when it voted on later today. Godfrey denied that the Liberals are abstaining because they fear an early election. He agrees with the NDP that Ambrose is incompetent, but said he wants to give her time to demonstrate her incompetence more fully. He suggested that a Commons committee is not the right forum to debate who should serve in cabinet.

Let me get this straight - you agree the Minister is incompetent, but you want to give her more time to demonstrate her incompetence?! That's the LIBERALS for you. If a cop or a doctor or lawyer was suspected to be incompetent, would they be allowed to continue in their job? At the least they would probably be suspended with pay while things were sorted out. In politics, eveyrone sits on their hands waiting trying to give the other guy enough rope to hang themselves. Sheesh, and politicians wonder why the average citizen is turned off politics.
