(no subject)

I never thought I would say this, but I'm getting sick of reading. My semester at uni is so full of readings that I've become put off by my usual leisurely reading. I've always got philosophy texts to read but at least they're interesting but it's still a lot that has to be read each week. Then I have a novel that has to be read every few weeks for my english course. Some of the books we've had to read are good but there's one shitty book that I sincerely hope I never have to lay eyes on again after I finish my essay. This is Sir Thomas More's "Utopia", the novel has interesting aspects to it that you can discuss but good god is it ever boring! The next book I have to read is A Clockwork Orange so I'm sure that'll be more entertaining at least.

On the subject of novels, I am looking forward to future films that are coming out in the next year or so which are based on books that I've read and loved. On boxing day a film i've been long anticipating will get its release here, it's called "Atonement" by Ian McEwan and it will star Keira Knightley, James McAvoy and Romola Garai, it is such a unique story, I can't wait!

Then another film which is in pre-production is Nick Hornby's "A long way down" it's a book about four strangers who on new year's eve coincidentally plan to jump off the same building, when they all realise what's going on they sit and talk and decide they'll give their lives a second chance for a short time then they'll come back at the same time and see if they still want to do it. They're all completely different people and they reluctantly befriend each other. Johnny Depp bought the rights to this film. It's such a cool story and Nick Hornby is the author of "About A Boy" and "High Fidelity" as well as "Fever Pitch" which is where the idea for the Perfect Catch was taken from, they replace soccer with baseball.

They're also in the process of making a film version of "The Lovely Bones", which is a book I enjoyed even if it was a little overrated. I'm a little baffled about the cast though, the mum and dad will be played by Rachel Weisz and someone I never expected; Ryan Gosling!

And finally the one film I am most anticipating along with Atonement is "The Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger. I absolutely adore this novel and I can't wait for its release. Brad Pitt bought the rights to it cos he's a fan but that's beside the point. The main characters Henry and Claire will be played by Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams. I believe Rachel McAdams is a good choice but had my doubts about Eric Bana because of how Henry is described but I can overlook it because I really like Eric Bana, he's definitely talented. I originally pictured Henry to be played by someone like Adrien Brody or Christian Bale.

Well now that I'm done sharing my thoughts I say goodbye.
