S-sorry. Is that... how is that possible, though?

[Harry's not too sure what's being asked so he goes with the best explanation he can.]

Magic's possible in my world. If you're born with it you just need a wand.

[Harry is a good guesser: that was the confusion.]

Oh... I see. That seems dangerous...

[Oddly it helps to talk about the spell itself and not the situation.]

It's actually one of the Unforgivable curses...it's against wizarding law to use it.

[Helpful to Omi too-- talking about family tragedy is automatic no-no territory with him.

He sits up now.]

Wizarding law? So, there's even a legal system dedicated to magical practice? What sorts of laws do you have?

[Yeah this definitely helpful.]

There's all sorts. Mostly on keeping our world secret from the muggle...ah non-magicking world. And you know one's to keel wizards safe from one another as well.

Non-magicking... I see. Hey, is it okay that you're telling me this? I'm really interested in this wizarding law but. If it's supposed to be a secret from anyone who doesn't know it...

Honestly I'm not sure it matters here.

Mmh... That's a good point. From what I've heard, neither of us will remember anything from here when we go back home anyway.

[The idea seems to sadden Omi for a couple of moments. Then he's gently smiling again.]

In that case, then, if you don't mind talking about it, I'd really like to hear more about the kinds of laws that exist. What are some of the crimes that exist only to magic-users, and how are the laws enforced?

Sure, I can tell you whatever you want to know. I was going to be an auror back home so I know a bit.

Auror? What is that? Are they like the police?

Yeah actually that's almost Exactly what it is. Auror's go around finding people whoa te using dark magic and stop them.
