Oh, my god. THis is brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! I love that Eowyn & Legolas know, and that they love enough to let Gimli and Faramir go to each other -- and that gimli and Faramir love enough that they'd not go, if it would hurt those they'd pledged to.

And Gimli tasting of stone!!!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, so much, mystery writer. Is it too soon to beg for more?

Most unexpected and intriguing and would it sound too strange to say 'dignified', in that there is passion certainly, but also gentle care, one for the other, so that this one-and-only (?) opportunity is taken well.

I confess, I walked in here with some trepidation, but I like the way this works, Faramir and Gimli wisely accepting the advice of their partners, and then allowing themselves to go ahead and fully enjoy the experience. Now why do I have this feeling that Faramir intends to bring some of this new "knowledge" home with him to Eowyn, with her in Gimli's place at the command end of the rope? Hee!

I'll steal the words "most unexpected" from Alex. The conversations that Eowyn and Legolas have with their lovers sets both characters spinning towards each other like tops, knowing they'll collide but with unknown consequences. What a fine fine job.

This is such an unexpected pairing, yet a totally enthralling tale. Your portrayal of Faramir as noble, generous, and upstanding while still beset by flaws which he both recognizes in himself, and is discreetly reminded of by his confidants and coworkers, is honest, realistic, and endearing all at once.

The idea of Eowyn and Legolas, plotting this tryst, speaks volumes to the love and trust in both relationships. They each know they have nothing to fear, but are so generous in their love for their partners that they encourage the exploration of hidden desires.

Your description of the encounter itself is marvelous, understated and tremendously erotic. The description of the different types of hair on Gimli's body is such a perfect detail. And this line -- Dwarf turned to Man and whispered of secrets mined from the darkest of longings, tempered, hammered and twisted into delights of the flesh.
carries a whole world of subtle, exotic imagery. Very well done!
