Wasn't what I expected, but the only other "film" festival i've ever been to was the Animation Show produced by Mike Judge and Don Hertzfeldt, and Spike and Mike's Sick and Twisted, which is still one of the best times I'll ever spend in a movie theatre.
Before I forget again, I was directed to this beaut of a shorty by
dslartoo:
7:30 In The Morning. Clicky and watch, it's worth your 8 minutes. The most notable film that clearly stood out above the rest, in my feeble opinion, was the German "King of Thieves" about a 10 year old boy who's sold to the circus along with his sister by their parents in hopes of them becoming wealthy in the care of a Berlin underboss's care. Very dark, very good cinematography, and solid acting all around. I felt bad for missing the Q&A with the director, but there was so much else to see and I had never been to such a poorly organized film festival. I won't mention much of anything regarding the disappointment that was the animated shorts selection.
And thanks to
halcyon_ardency, I know there's a television show that's currently on the air that makes South Park look tame. It's called Wonder Showzen, and it's on MTV 2. From the minds of the creators of Sifl & Olly, if that's any indication. That's some fucked up shit, mang! I dare you to download a couple episodes and NOT gasp in abject horror and mischeivous delight. If you can watch this show and prevent yourself from looking like you just watched your grandparents have sex, you're a stronger human than I.
