Where is the Lion she urgently sang out that One Night

Where is the true foundation of thy love?
Can it be that you reach out your hand to me?
I looked up oh so long ago now and wondered
if the ancient words were true
would i dare believe?

She danced down to the riverside
and plopped down on the sandy shore
sighing with the wind frolicking
and spread out her blanket afore
and then took out her book and bottle of something sweet
and for the next few hours sipped now and again
but mostly she just narrowed her eyes over the open book
and read and read and read
for something she had heard stuck deep inside her mind
of the man who was God who is alive who once was dead
and she wondered if this could be true
for if so it shook her world and foundation to the core
and went against everything she'd ever thought and said
but she was determined not to let this chance go wasted
so she pored over the pages and took them at their word
wondering if this God actually wanted to speak with her
and as she traced her fingers through the sand
and let the autumn leaves fall all around
she finally sighed and wiped away her tears
knowing that she who once was lost now was found
for no one spoke as he did
this man who lived ever so long ago
and even through the gap of years and years
she felt the yearning of her soul
for he reached out a hand and beckoned
and she looked at his face in faith and believed
she who was truly a daughter of perdition
lost to hope and self-admittedly vile within
someone who knew not God
was a girl who God longed to know
and inside her soul a fire stirred
and she wondered if this was the Spirit
she had just read about
for now her heart warmed to think of God
and she cried out save me my God!
and then she cried out I do believe!
I believe in Christ who came and died
and who surely rose again
and I believe that He is my only hope and Savior
and that only in Him can I be at peace with God
and she cried out once more my Father!
and through the veil of tears she sang softly
lifting up her eyes to see the beauty of the stars above
knowing that now she was a child of God
washed in blood and called to glory
and ever ever wrapped in perfect love
