OK, well, change is good right?
I've been in an email exchange (and had one phone call) with a graduate school in Tokyo for the past few weeks. The grad student I'm working with here, Nisha, first pointed it out to me. The university there has two professors very interested in glbt issues. Nisha met them at the last APA global meeting in Honolulu. After exchanging emails (including sending them my resume, transcript, and the few letters of recommendation that I could scrounge together), it looks like I will be able to start grad school this fall instead of having to wait till next year!
Now the only issue is that I have to wrap up all my affairs here and move to Japan (!) in June or July. I guess I'll be there 5 or 6 years. It's all happening so fast I can hardly believe it. I haven't even told the folks yet. I don't think they'll be pleased. I'm scared shitless, but it seems to be the only way I can get started with my graduate work this year rather than next.
Wish me luck!
