[Sirius silently watches Remus leave. He doesn't know what to make of all of this, and maybe it's a good thing he's going for a few minutes so Sirius has a moment to process it all.]
[His first instinct hadn't been repulsion, but nor had it been immediate attraction. It was like somewhere in the middle, a longing for the familiarity of his lover. He'd held on, even when he'd felt how cold the skin was beneath his fingers. He'd looked him in the eye, had seen the fangs, but he hadn't backed down. It wasn't until he'd felt Remus' chest and the missing heartbeat that he realized just how wrong the situation was. His Remus, his warm, loving, living Remus had no heartbeat.]
[The shock of that was enough to send his mind reeling, and maybe he'd panicked when Remus talked about drinking, because regardless of the vampires here in the Nexus, Sirius knows vampires to attack and drink from their victims. Remus had said he was dangerous to them and to keep away, and while he'd known that was true, he'd held on. Because this wasn't his Remus. Something had happened, and part of his Remus was gone. His eyes had been different... they'd lost some of the vibrancy and they didn't sparkle with the same gold hues that were attributed to the wolf, but Sirius loved anyway. The heartbeat that he loved to feel against his chest or beneath his ear when they twined together at night, the steady sound that reminded him that regardless of their futures, they were both here, together, and alive right now, was gone. And somewhere, though Sirius himself had yet to and probably would never identify, lost in the most primal part of his soul where his magic was in its purest form, Padfoot wailed for his lost mate.]
[Remus' comment about TruBlood had soothed him slightly, because he'd been terrified that in turning, Remus had lost that bit of him that wanted to keep everyone else safe from him. He'd gone from being dangerous one night a month, a condition which they can and have managed with Padfoot and Prongs, into being something that always had the potential for danger, even if he'd had TruBlood. No one could ever say Sirius Black shied away from danger or a challenge, but this wasn't an extreme sport or a midnight duel, it was the man he loved being taken away from him and warped into something he doesn't know how to handle. And with that thought, Sirius knows that no matter what happens, he will do everything in his power to fix this. Because he loves Remus, no matter what, and it is that fact that roots him to the spot until the man in question returns.]
